Pale golden amber colour with a fully diminishing thin layer of white froth – very low carbonation appearance, almost like they’re going for a cask-style carbonation. Floral and very citrusy, lime, tangerine, and orange aroma with light grassy and toasty notes. Not much malt presence, just some light toasty flavour with a very hoppy, citrusy finish. Bitterness is present, but in the background behind the citrus hop flavours. Medium bodied, low carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Almost cask-like mouthfeel, which, as mentioned, seems to be what they were going for. A pretty good “mixed breed” IPA with English malts and American hops, but seems to be missing something.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 13, 2009 A: Poured with a large, white head that diminished over a short period of time to a thin layer. Body is completely clear and a dark, amber color... unusual compared to most IPAs, but still a nice looking beer.
S: Average hops, some citrus... and a slight roasted malt tinge to it.
T: That roasted malt comes through in the beginning of the flavor as well. Finishes moderately bitter and dry; the citrus seems to be in there too. After a few more sips, it honestly seems to be as malty as it is hoppy... interesting.
M: Medium-bodied and creamy, with soft carbonation.
D: Definitely a different IPA, with the maltiness being stronger that you would expect for the style. Still, an enjoyable example that shows that Picaroons is at the very least trying to do things differently. beerbuzzmontreal (2942), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 23, 2009 500 ml bottle from Alcool NB Liquor in Fredericton. Pours an almost clear orange/gold with small white head. Fairly restrained citrus hop aroma. Citrus hops very prominent in the taste - malts very muted so that almost hop juice - yields big bitter finish. A bit watery in the mouth. This was a new brewery to me - this beer was okay but I definitely preferred their bitter. I noted the comment on the label about the beer changing as they explored various interpretations of an east coast-style IPA. Maybe I would have preferred a different interpretation.
