COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

355ml bottle. Clear amber with small frothy white head. Sweet malt aroma. Soft palate, sweet caramel malt taste, toffee, candy, almost burnt caramel, countered by a carbonation induced dry hop note.

Bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Leaves some lacing. Malty, fruity, slightly hoppy aroma. Flavor is more of the same. Sometimes on draft it’s a bit muddy or skunky. Good for something that’s widely available.

35cl bottle - pours copper with decent tan head and light lacing. Nose is caramel, floral hops, and resin. Aroma is caramel and more hops. taste is sweet and ends on a dry bitter finish. Medium body and thin texture - this does not taste like a Samuel Adams at all - not hoppy enough. Metallic aftertaste. I get the sense this a mariner’s beer and it’s comforting.

A bit of a hop bite but not much. Rather malty but also a bit of a funky back end. Not as good as boston lager but not terrible.

Bottle. Almost clear, amber liquid with fast dissipating , medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops, caramel, cereal and toffee. Taste is light sweet, light to medium bitter and quite malty. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle @ home. Clear, copper orange appearance with a cream colored head. Creamy, toast, straw, caramel malty aroma. Somewhat bitter, toffee, grassy, caramel flavor. Bleh.

One of my favs from Sammy Adams! Reddish brown pour with slight carbonation. Must drink a little warmer to appreciate. A good malt and hop mix with a toasty bread note. A gingerbread zip on the tongue is present too!

33cl bottle. Pours copper with a big white head. Smells honey malty. Tastes bread malty, abit sweet with a clear bitter finish.
