JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Deep golden-amber beer. Thin white head. Aroma is quite nice. Rich clovey spice with cinnamon and a rich fruity character. Orange, cherry, blueberry and a soft spiciness as well. Flavour is quite rich, but the beer is still pretty well-attenuated. Orange peel, toast and a lingering wheaty spicy flavour. Lingering berries and herbs. Lightly minty and herbal on the back. As it warms, the yeast gets quite spicy and reminds me of Unibroue... continues to evolve and becomes more fruity as it continues to warm. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 11.2oz - thanks SoLan - Aroma of doughy yeast and grassy hops with a sharp spicy nose of coriander, juniper and pepper. Pours cloudy brown with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is creamy and tart. Not a "funky" saison, but it is spicy and refreshing. A great summer beer. UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA Jun 3, 2008 I really enjoyed the drinkability of this representation of a saison. Usually, I am turned off by a lot of the odd flavours present. However, I know that that is exactly what a lot of people look for in a saison. I think this is a completely delicious, refreshing, and drinkable version of this style. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA May 28, 2008 Pours a cloudy burnt orange color with a small white head. Smells of an unusual blend of spices. Some black pepper, maybe a touch of mint, also was noticeable. Definitely had a fruity presence as well. The flavor has a certain sweetness to it that I wasnt expecting at all. Almost like caramel or toffee is the best I could describe it. The finish was smooth, but didnt care for the aftertast too much. Not really bitter, but left a bland fruity flavor on the tongue. Ive had better saisons. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA May 24, 2008 Golden colored but not pale. Aroma is pleasant but light and little zesty consisting of some light fruits, chardonnay and some yeast. Citrus coriander and lemon flavors, a bit of white wine with some yeast and a oak note towards the finish. Light and refreshing but maybe just a little too light. Interesting but good, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but wow is it too expensive. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 750 from the abbey in Deland, Fl. Sweet citrus, orange peel in the aroma with a spiciness. Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Strong citrus flavors with spices like ginger and grains of paradise, sweet with a dry finish. Not bad. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 4, 2008 bottle-pours a blotchy offwhite head with cloudy amber color. Aroma is mild spice, citrus-orange. Taste is dry medium malt, mild spice, citrus-orange. Soft carbonation. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle: Lightly hazy orange blonde color, light puffy head and some lacing. Nose of light coriander, snappy thin noble hops and a grassy light spicyness which could be spices, could be yeast. The flavor is brittle with some light matiness bordering on caramel, a touch of butterscotch and some corianderness, finishes thin. Hmmm, not quite worth the price on this one. $7.99 for a 300ml? Hmmm.
