maxbeer (118), Italy Oct 28, 2007 The chinotto is well matched with the other spices, and gives a touch of citric bitterness maybe. In the moith this ale has a good, firm bitterness and a long finish. A quite good example of a Saison puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Very nice, surprisingly mild, light and fruity, with chestnut and cheese. Great head, great lacing. A touch of mint, yeast forward and really mellow. Well done. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2008 Bottle. Poured a nice pale golden body with thin head. Aroma is flowers, light spices. Flavor is lightly sweet spices, light lemon and a smooth body. Finishes slightly dry. Refreshing. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 29, 2008 Draught @ Ebenezer’s. Pours hazy pale gold. Big fizzy white head. Aroma is is big on juniper, hint of green wood, biscuity malt peeking through. Taste is round, herbal, floral, a bit earthy and grassy - very smooth and drinkable. Mellow. A bit of a light grassy bitterness sits on the palate. Clean, pillowy carbonation and medium to light body. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jul 8, 2008 Clear dark gold with a white head. Nice aroma is salty freshly chopped celery with tomato paste and pale bready malt, really not as bad as it sounds. Lightly carbonated with a smooth texture. Good flavors of grainy pale malt with dry hay and spices, another funky flavored Saison. enjoyed this one.
SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 25, 2008 Lightly hazy orange/gold with a small white head. Coriander and juniper jump out of the aroma followed by floral, citrus, earth, grains, candy, and fresh leather. Generous amount of wheat in the flavor, especially towards the finish. Also some peppery oak and earthy, bitter hops. Subtle vanilla creeping in the aroma and flavor as it warms, prominent in the aftertaste. A lot going on in what at first taste seemed a simple brew. Medium to medium/light body is a little thin, well carbonated yet soft. Finishes dry and yeasty, like a cross between a wit and a saison. Very nice. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle: The aroma contains grassy hops with some faint apple and spice. It pours a hazy pale golden-orange with a small soapy white head that quickly fades to a film. The flavor starts with some light yeastiness, honey, cereal grain, and faint apple. The finish has light-moderate grassy hops with some faint citrus and spicy notes. There is the slightest bit of tartness in the finish as well. Light bodied with mild carbonation. A solid beer, but only worth trying once based on the price. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 11.2oz - thanks SoLan - Aroma of doughy yeast and grassy hops with a sharp spicy nose of coriander, juniper and pepper. Pours cloudy brown with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is creamy and tart. Not a "funky" saison, but it is spicy and refreshing. A great summer beer.
