Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival, September 2007. Another nicely conditioned aromatic golden ale from Pictish. A little more restrained than the Sauvin Blanc but still very accomplished. The fragrant aroma gives way to tangy grapefruit, and hints of tropical fruit, on the palate. The mouthfeel retains a smooth, easy-going character despite a prominent hoppy grip. Not much malt in evidence but that isn’t what this beer is about. Jolly good stuff.

Cask@St. Albans BF. Very nice, and good use of centenial hops. Beautiful fr4sh hoppy aroma. Palate shows some lychee and pine, with some nice grapefruit bitternss. palate is very well balanced, with some nice crisp bitterness in the finish. Sublimely drinkable.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at St. Albans Beer Festival. Clean gold with a bubbley but very stable white head. Excellent condition. Beautiful peachy hoppage with lovely tropical notes. Very slightly dusty with a dry bitter finish. A little straight down the line but still bloody excellent.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Pale gold with lasting white head. Great Centennial hop aroma. Hey, this is my type of beer, a little soapy perhaps towards the end. Hop is good, decent floralness. Good example of this blond style, but no Hophead or JHB.
