Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival, September 2007. Beautiful clear golden colour in faultless condition. Perfect proof that you don’t have to carbonate a beer to get a lively countenance. Wonderfully vibrant flowery and fruity hop aroma. A cocktail of citrus fruit. Slightly less exuberant on the palate but still plenty of flavour. Firm, quenching, spritzy mouthfeel. Perhaps just a touch sharp but that’s only a minor point. Another terrific drinking beer from Pictish. mouthfeel.

Cask@St. Albans. Looked fantastic in the glass, glowing pale, yellow, with a very nice head for a cask beer. It was in great condition. Aroma shows some pungent fruity notes of kiwi fruit and gooseberry. Palate is exceptional, fantastic balance between slightly sweet fresh tropical fruit, and leafy hop bitterness. Finish is dry and bitter. A fantastic golden ale that i hope to all hell i get to try again, great stuff.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at St. Albans Beer Festival.
Easy choice as beer of the festival for me. Absolutely stunning and to date my highest rated cask beer, beating even the awesome Milton Marcus Aurelius. Unbelievable condition. Lovely gold colour with a thick and tenacious white head. Turns instantly cloudy with just a slight swill then settles like a freshly poured Guinness. Chris likened it to a snowstorm and I must agree. A full 15-20 seconds to settle from completely cloudy to perfectly clear blonde. As Chris also pointed out this is a shining example of why we do not need gas in beer. Such superb condition and life in it I simply do not have words to do it justice. Beautifully hoppy and pungent aroma. Outstanding hoppy and bitter flavour with lychee and gooseberry. Bone dry with a huge, lengthy bitter as hell finish. Bags of flavour and balanced with some delicate but excellent malt. It really has got the lot. A glowing example of the art of cask beer that is sadly all too rare. If only all cask beers were like this...

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Gold with lasting bubbly off white head. Good sherberty hop aroma, a little soapy, nice golden blond beer. Decent hop on end. Moderate fullness/sweetness due to alcohol. This is a decent blond with some tea and leafy hop. Smooth in mouth and good grapefruit.
