Bottled beer. Real good! My favorite Latvian beer. Beginning is sweet and malty and end is bitter and hoppy.

Sigmund (4812) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 2, 2007
500 ml bottle, bought in Riga, as "Piebalgas Alus Piebalga". ABV is 5.6%. This is a "gaisais alus" (= pale beer). Unpasteurised. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Sweetish malty and slightly fruity aroma, hints of honey. Sweet malty flavour, too sweet for a pale lager. Notes of honey. Alcohol is noticeable. Some hops in the finish. Unusual lager, but not undrinkable.

I give it maximum, because this is really my all-time favourite. It has its very special taste, not easily understandable, but especially distinct. I may even doubt, whether it may be classified as a Lager - it may go as a Bitter as well (although it is sweetish by taste).

Bottled. Golden colour, huge white creamy head. Strong hoppy and alcoholic nose with a weak lemony note along. Flavour is hoppy, toffeeish and a bit hayish. Hints of honey and alcohol too.
