Small white head. Clear yellow body with carbonation. Mealy herbal aroma with grassy mealy notes. Dry-sweet herbal grassy taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish, coarseish mouthfeel. Dryish herbal fruity aftertaste with spicy earthy grassy notes. Not bad, but a little boring. (0.3l draft at Citi Laiki, Riga.)

Rather sweet brew, lots of soft fruit and flowers. Boiled veg - carrots, califlower. Not the first beer to seek out in Latvia!

Sigmund (4205) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 2, 2007
500 ml bottle, bought in Riga, as "Piebalgas Alus Piebalga". ABV is 5.6%. This is a "gaisais alus" (= pale beer). Unpasteurised. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Sweetish malty and slightly fruity aroma, hints of honey. Sweet malty flavour, too sweet for a pale lager. Notes of honey. Alcohol is noticeable. Some hops in the finish. Unusual lager, but not undrinkable.

On keg in Riga. Pours a blonde colour with a thick white head. Aroma of bready yeast and barley with metallic notes. Flavour of bready yeast, caramel, grassy hops and barley. A mild bitter finish with moderate carbonation and a light CO2 prickle. Not great.

Frovigalning (2028) - Örebro, SWEDEN - JUL 29, 2009
It poured a clear golden liquid with a small foam that left some lacing. It didn’t have any odor at all. Tasted like a cheap kind of sparkled water.

Draught at Citi Laiki (Riga).
Golden yellow color, medium head, nice bubbly aspect. Light notes of malty, dried grassy, wheat. Little watery taste, not much crisp and with a light bitter content.
