UPDATED: AUG 20, 2012 Poured from tap into a tulip at Piece. Pours a dark orange color with a foamy head. Very aromatic with lots of aromas of hops, pine resin, oranges and various citrus aromas. Very good depth on all of the aromas. Medium/full bodied with a very good and smooth feel. The flavors of hops, pine resin and oranges are slightly lacking in the middle. I’m always glad when this is back on tap. One of Piece’s better brews. Dangerously you don’t notice the alcohol on it, but it is a real balanced and good beer.

Draft at Piece. Hazy orange, thin white ring, oily puddle of small bubbles in the middle. Nose is hop oil, cardboard, iipa sweetness... here we go! Flavor is orange, sugary mango ruling, some paper and faint barkey bitterness through finish. Sticky, full... all the qualities I love about IIPAs, low bitterness, high sweetness, filling, sticky, tooth-rotting... YAY!

Tasted on draft at Piece in early August 2011, and several other times, so this rating is a composite, of sorts. Pours cloudy, opaque, orange with a thick white head that slowly recedes to uneven lace. The nose is full of orange, grapefruit, a hint of tropical fruit, bright green resin hops, and a solid caramel malt base. The flavor starts off with the somewhat (depending on batch variation, sometimes very) sweet caramel malt and tropical fruit, moving to the grapefruit and orange, and finishing with a solid dose of green resin hops bitterness. The body is full and sticky with average carbonation and a long, citrus peel and bitter resin finish.

A really nicely done DIPA. In my opinion, this is the best beer Piece has made to date. Foamy & orange in the glass. Slight lacing in the glass. Sweet and fruity smell. Hammering of hops at the end, but it is all citrus, not pine. My only beef is the high alcohol content makes a slight burn in the mouth.

POursdeep golden with big notes of citrus fruit. Think grapefruit and the tropics. These characteristics show deeper with a bigger rounding of sweet malts that drive to a long finish.

On tap at Piece. Pours hazy light orange with off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit, bright hops, and caramel malts. Flavors of grapefruit, orange, mango, bit of caramel malts, and bitter hops. Finishes with nice balance between malts and hops. Mouthfeel was a tad watery, but other than that it was pretty much spot on.

It pours a dark orange with a white head, but it doesn’t last long or have very good lacing. The aroma is strong lots of citrust and hops, with a touch of spice. The taste is great but very strong throughout. Notes of orange and lots of hops from start to finish. The beer sticks to your mouth and its very drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub. Great fruity hops aroma and taste. Very, very nice, kind of between an IPA and DIPA. Wish I could get it somewhere other than just the brewpub - very congested part of town.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy deep orange with a small creamy white head. Aroma is nicely citric fruity hops, plenty of fresh mango and grapefruit with some sweet caramel. Flavor starts with a nice bouquet of sweet fruity hops and a soft doughy note that comes into play. Finishes with a moderately bitter but not overly aggressive finish. Medium to medium full body and a soft carbonation. Pretty good stuff

[Tap] Pours a clear gold/amber color with a foamy white cap. Fragrant aroma of citrusy hops. A hoppy bitterness dominates this beer, with any other flavor notes taking a back seat. Astringent and sharply bitter finish. Noticeable alcohol in the finish accentuates the one dimensional hoppiness here. I appreciate what they were trying to do here, but I really wasn’t crazy about it.
