Draught at the brewpub. Hazy gold with a white head. Lots of green hops and orange zest in the aroma. Hoppy and bright flavor with lots of citrus. Light pale malt to balanbce and just a touch of butterscotch. Medium bodied. Again, as with the pale ale, the light diacetyl that their ale yeast leaves in the beer is not what I would prefer, though I can see how others might not be bothered by it. I think I would like this a lot with a cleaner yeast though.

On tap: The aroma consists of tropical fruits, pineapple, grapefruit, and sweet citrus. It’s a transparent amber with a small off-white head that leaves some sporadic finely dotted lacing. The flavor starts with sweet tropical fruits and sugary pineapple. The finish has moderate grapefruit, light pine, and a hint of alcohol. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Overall, it’s solid, although maybe a tad to sweet and sticky.

Had on tap at Piece. Served in a tulip glass. A: Hazy chilled amber with a thin off-white head that sticks to the glass the whole way down. Looks very nice. S: Lots going on in the nose. Fruity and spicy notes with some sugary sweetness as well. Nice citrus with a slight grapefruit. T: There is a hop explosion in the taste. Fruity, citrusy, and a little pine all rest on a nice malt backbone. There is a slight bitterness on the finish as well and that mixes with a slight booze twinge. M: Medium bodied with a sticky, coating quality that leaves a slight bitter fruit on the palate. Nicely carbonated as well. O: This was a very nice beer. There was a lot going on in the flavors, but nothing really stepped on each others toes. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-16-2011
