3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This draft brew poured a small sized head of finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and dark black in color. Its aroma contained notes of very mild malts and was almost non-existent. Its mouth feel is initially very tingly with a lingering tingly palate and a mild brown beer aftertaste. Its flavor contained malty dark brown malt notes. .

Reviewed from notes.
Pours near black with a very thin head and not too much lacing. Nose is roasted malt and not much else. Taste has a light roast character with a hint of sweetness but is mostly pretty dry. Feel is light with good carbonation. Easy sipper but nothing is really there.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rootbeer-looking in color, clarity and head. Ceral lager aroma. Deep, dark grainy malt flavors - sweetish - without much roast. A little chemical on the backend.

Draft at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Aroma was malty, roasty, some chocolate, and smokey. Flavor was lightly hoppy and malty. Smooth palate. Medium body.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Growler. Poured a clear dark brown color with dark orange highlights. The head was tan. Smelled of unsweetened chocolate brownie with hay and nut accents. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet. I tasted hints of molasses, caramel apple, grass, and lightly roasted nuts. It’s a Schwarzbier,

7/27/2010: Piece Dark Bier... Aroma: Milk chocolate with a splash of coffee. Appearance: Chesnut color; semi-opaque; no head. Flavor: Dark fruits (plum); gives way to chocolate and roasted and steeped grains; small herbal bitterness in the finish. Palate: Average. Overall: Finally, something a little interesting...

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewery into a mug...Pours a watery looking dark brown with TONS of amber highlights that is slightly darker than a coca cola. A very light tan head that is gone quickly...The aroma and taste are all a sweet German bock. Aroma is super matly with sweet brown sugar and caramel and the taste is the same, almost too sweet though and not enough bite to make you want to drink more. Easy to drink at 4% but not worth getting.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mug served at the brewpub bar with a dark brown appearance and light ruby tones showing through. The head was a modest, off white to light tan with fair cling to the lacing. Everything about this beer was light. In the aroma, there was very subtle German malt scent, roasted notes as mocha and hints of sweetness and caramel. The flavor was similar, adding some low bitterness to the somewhat thin body. Subtly dry was the finish. A no frills, sessionable, black lager.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep amber colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is alright. Some caramel, earth, biscuit, and cocoa with a light roast. Flavor is better. Light roast and nice caramel with a moderate earth. More biscuit and cocoas before finishing mostly dry with a light bitterness and malty roast. Medium length aftertaste following a medium body and light carbonation. Overall, a decent schwarzbier. Not the most impressive, but enjoyable.
