COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big malty ale with obscene American hop character. Traditionally brewed and generously hopped, this beer is a hop-lovers dream.

The picture and the description above don’t do this beer justice. It’s got multiple flavors to it, a malty smoothness, and a nice full smell. Whenever I’m at Piece, I look forward to this one.

On tap. The photo on RateBeer does not look at all like this beer - it is clear golden in color with a one-finger white head. The nose has a bit of caramel and citrus fruits with some herbal notes. Nice hoppy flavor with orange and grapefruit along with a somewhat sweet caramel and pale malt base. Medium-bodied with average carbonation. Very good stuff overall.

Growler from the brewpub, drank within the hour at MNF gathering :) Poured a deep gold with a decent white head that dissipated to a thin film over the surface and laced just a bit. Nose is citrus rind, sweet resin and pine with a body of grains to sturdy it. Taste is the same, a great balance of sweet resin, biting pine and tangy, bitter hops- all balanced by the body of grains. A tasty and easy to drink brew.

Poured from a growler thanks to Sarah! Pours a hazed, deeper golden colored body with a finger-width, frothy, mostly white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is pretty solid. Nice grassy citruses with mostly grapefruits along with some brighter resins, melons, tropical fruits, and a few florals. The malts are fairly grainy with a touch of caramel and balance the hops well. Flavor is similar. Brighter grapefruits with some grassy citruses, a few resins, and some florals balanced with a grainy, somewhat crackery maltiness with just a touch of caramel. Citruses come out real nicely in the end as this dries with a moderate bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a very solid IPA. Easy drinking, balanced, and tasty. Fresh grapefruits and a nice grainy, lightly sweetened malt. Well done.

[Tap] Pours a clear copper color with very little head. Sweet and syrupy nose of caramel malts and heavy grapefruit. Good amounts of citrus, mango, pine cone and bread in the taste. Rich and somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Lingering hop bitterness is pleasant. Moderate carbonation levels. Pretty good.

Growler pours hazy gold with 1 finger head that diminishes to 1cm but with great retention. Aroma is grapefruit, candy sweet resin, underlying bread, honey. Taste is honey, grains, citrus, then a candy-sweet citrus finish that fades completely within a few seconds leaving you wanting another sip. Body is medium with a thin, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation, and a dry, abrupt finish. Overall, in the city of Chicago, you really can’t beat Piece for a glass of ridiculously fresh ale!

Draft at Piece Brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a glowing amber orange hue, fiery edges and bottom show sunfire with a big bright white head, bubbly that stays a decent size and laces ok. Aromas are a nice melange of hops, showing a good load of grapefruit, lemons, some oranges. Sweeter gentle melon, grainy malts, bread, touches of bigger biscuits. Big load of grapefruit really sinks in, citrusy and hop fruity slanted. Aroma really sucks me in. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, a healthy hop character with some sharp florals and grass, grapefruit grows potent, with a solid bitter citrus bite, lemons, touches of melons. Good healthy fresh hopping, very citrusy moves into bread, dough, some pale malts, crackers, grainy malts and cereal grains. Finish is lingering citrus, oranges and grapefruit. Strong very citrus slanted hop finish, very fresh and very potent. Very nice, heavy grapefruit and pink lemonade feel. Recommended. Great Chicago fresh IPA that is likely often overlooked. Not overly complex, light on body and easily quaffable. Not as heavy and complex as others but a great drinker. Enjoyed.

Tap. Pours orange/gold with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is medium malt (cookie, caramel), heavy hops (citrus, floral, pine), medium fruity esters and notes of pineapple. Flavor is mostly hoppy with supporting malts. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth and a dry finish.
