3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pawola22 (3101) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 12, 2011
Poured from a growler thanks to Sarah! Pours a hazed, deeper golden colored body with a finger-width, frothy, mostly white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is pretty solid. Nice grassy citruses with mostly grapefruits along with some brighter resins, melons, tropical fruits, and a few florals. The malts are fairly grainy with a touch of caramel and balance the hops well. Flavor is similar. Brighter grapefruits with some grassy citruses, a few resins, and some florals balanced with a grainy, somewhat crackery maltiness with just a touch of caramel. Citruses come out real nicely in the end as this dries with a moderate bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a very solid IPA. Easy drinking, balanced, and tasty. Fresh grapefruits and a nice grainy, lightly sweetened malt. Well done.

Growler from the brewpub, drank within the hour at MNF gathering :)
Poured a deep gold with a decent white head that dissipated to a thin film over the surface and laced just a bit.
Nose is citrus rind, sweet resin and pine with a body of grains to sturdy it. Taste is the same, a great balance of sweet resin, biting pine and tangy, bitter hops- all balanced by the body of grains. A tasty and easy to drink brew.

Small sample at the brewpub. Clear golden, big yeasty-caramel-scotchy nose; fairly hoppy, citrusy front does not hide a lovely malty sweet backdrop. Taste somewhere between a big IPA and Scottish Ale, I’d say...bitterness continues to the end.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jokes (1453) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 2, 2004
Slightly hazy golden body with a thick, white head. Big hoppy nose full of oranges, grapefruit, perfumed pine and big fresh flowers. The body is a little harsh, but with all of the alcohol and hops, that is sort of expected. The flavor is good, but not quite what the aroma led on. The malts do a better job of making their presense known in the flavor and the hops are pretty-well subdued, at least compared to the nose. The alcohol is warming and comes into play at times. A decent offering from Piece. Hoppy and warming with good flavors and a nice finish.

Draught at BrewPub: Aroma of hops, citrus, and light pine. Poured yellow/gold in color with a tiny, off-white head around the edges only. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, citrus, tangerine, and grapefruit. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Hop and light grapefruit finish is slightly dry. A decent IPA, that borders on APA.

I dont know if our sample was still to cold, but man, we just couldn’t pick up much aroma at all,we were searching for those piney hops, but they just weren’t making themselves evident, sticking my nose literally in the beer got a little pine, taste, grainey hopping ,mild malting all somewhat tepid from what I was expecting, turned out to be hoppy enough to be a decent IPA. Maybe I should make this the first sample of the night
