This traditionally brewed award winning Kolsch bier is straw colored crisp and refreshing similar to a lager in many respects but is actually a light German ale.

Beer-judging sized sampler. Very spritzy and lemony. Has a thin head with some lacing over a straw colored, slightly cloudy body. Grassy hops, just a little sour, and a nice clean finish. Yeah, that pizza is pretty good (thin-crust on a cracker-style crust is Chicago’s “other” pizza, and they do it pretty well here).

Citrus fruits, lager yeast, grain malts. Clear, pale gold, small, creamy, white head. Light bitter. Grain and cereal malts, lager yeast, lively carbonation, citrus fruits, lemon, grapefruit. Decent Koelsch, fairly flavoursome. Keg at brewpub, Chicago.

On tap at the brewpub. Light pour with a big white head. Aroma is graint and a little bit like attic dust. Flavor is similar.

Tap at Piece - clear gold - crisp, clean, nicely grassy brew - soft, grainy, almost toasty malt character - crackery finish - moderately floral - very slit butter on the tail end, but mostly clean and enjoyable - nice.

On tap at 2014 GTMW, pours a clear light gold with a thin bubbly head, the aroma is of grain and a little bit of lemon and grass, the flavor is pretty light on the front end with some grain in the finish, light and easy drinking.

Draft at the brewery, served in a nonic pint glass. Pours a clear, slightly cloudy gold color with a small white head. Notes of straw, grass, pale and crackery and almost bready, doughy malts, and a spritz of lemon. Light-bodied, with a malty, dry, crisp mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice example of the style. Refreshing on a hot summer day.

Super pale straw color, no head. Pretty mellow nose, some light hay, some floral notes. Nice slight bitterness, more sweet. Very light body. Reasonably lively. Fine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kolsch don't excite me. Not much flavor and kind of like a pilsner. They do it well here and it pours yellow like apple juice. Not much odor and is easy to drink. Had at piece ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Piece. Even lighter and paler than the Singel. Filtered pale yellow tan. Buttery diacetyl aroma. Quite poor for the style. This is really shabby, off.

Sampled at the brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of pale and dough malts, light floral hops, and some bread. Flavor the same. Average to light texture. A decent beer.

From notes. Part of a draft flight at piece. Kinda plain and watery. A bit boozy, but drinkable.
