I had this on tap into a tasting glass at Piece. The look is a little down, light brown that is pretty clear and gives off an oily sheen. Light tan head not much there to speak of. This beer starts to get special on the aroma. Tons of sweet bourbon which is just so nice and easy to take in. There is a little oak and vanilla, and a bw finish of hops. The taste is pretty much the same and just as awesome. Superb sweet bouron and oak with a hoppy finish. Nice warm finish on the beer but a little light. Not sure I could drink a ton of this but give me half a snifter and at 13% all will be alright. 2010 is much much better than 2011.

This one was a hop monster, very much in line with the Piece house thing. Very creamy mouthfeel, super hopped. Damn tasty. Similar to Bigfoot, but had it’s own nuances. tasty!

tap at piece and also had the cask version at DOLA. this rating is for the non-cask.... dark caramel brown pour with a thin soapy white head..... aroma of dark fruit, caramel, and sweet toffee notes.... flavors of dark dried fruit, caramel with a good malt backbone and a bitterness in the finish. some heat at the tailend as well.

GTMW 2008. The beer was a copper body with a light tan head. The aroma is grapefruit and toffee. The flavor has a floral, toffee, and grapefruit thing going on. A nice creamy palate.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown, slightly ruby tinted body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruits and medium sweet caramels up front with some toffee backing, pines, earth, a good amount of mixed fruit, a light toast, and some brown sugar. Flavor is similar. Sweeter caramels and toffees up front with the mixed fruits and cherry. Some toast and grapefruit hops grow in the middle with earth and light pines. Finishes dry and moderately bitter with a mix of florals, fruit, earth, caramel, toffee, and some grain. Lengthy aftertaste following a smooth, full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid barley wine. Nice caramel malt backing with a good amount of hops to balance and some mixed fruits. Easy drinking and pretty creamy with no hint of alcohol. Nice one.

tap at repeal prohibition festival at Schalfly. cloudy dark orange/copper with a rocky beige head. nose is very dark fruit layered with sweet alcohol. WOW, talk about a big barley here-huge caramel flavors with touches of dark fruit, resin and some green hops. Carbonation is sharp, which hinders the experience. There is quite a bit of complex things going on here, but doesnt really have much direction. THe flavors are very indifinitive. Long caramel and fruity finish. pretty decent.

Copper pour ligth tan head with decent lacing. Light cereals and grass in the aroma touch of fruit a piece of raw grains, lots of sweet notes, some hints of grahm cracker. Avg pal. Sweet graham cracker lightly bitter grass flavor fairly acidic, too much alcohol comes through. Not bad but I prefer the camel. GTMW: Served by a very fun & cute brunette should be worth some bonus points.

Pour is deep ruby amber with a thin super sticky tan head...smell is strongly hoppy with citrus flavors (mainly grapefruity)...taste is sweet with toffe and caramel and a thick chewy mouthfeel...hops come out in the finish with a nice citrusy filavor...

On tap at Piece. Pours a murky dull brown with a lovely fine frothy dense white head. Tons of citrus and resiny piney fresh hops in the aroma, screams American BW. Sweet caramel and bitter salty pine flavor with lots of citrus in the finish. Some cotton candy, herbal, perfumy, slightly reminds me of Alesmith. Sugary med/full body with overloading sharp carbonation.
