3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, USA - AUG 9, 2009
On tap @ Piece as Roland the Headless Oat Stout. This wasn’t bad, but it could have used some improvement. A bit of chocolate and caramel in the nose and a bit of sweetness from the oats, and maybe just a hint of gamey leather there as well. Good roasted flavor throughout but was just a little bit light in the loafers. Needs some tweaking and it will be delicious.

Very dark pour with a small head that faded really quick. Taste is sweet at first, but it finishes a little bitter. Slight factory feel to it. Ok lacing. Medium mouth but a little on the thin side. Aroma is very faint.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (1992) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black body with a thin, creamy, brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is lighter with some smooth milky chocolates, a touch of lactose, a light roast, and some caramel. Flavor is a bit thin, but better. Lots of smooth and rich chocolates, oats with a touch of lactose sweetness, some roasts that come on more towards the end, and a touch of dark fruit. Finishes sweet and smooth, but dry with a nice roast and decent earthy bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a light-medium body and a light, creamy carbonation. Overall, a decent, flavorful oatmeal stout. Tasty and well balanced. Nothing special, but enjoyable.

draft.... not a fan of this, boring charry oatmeal stout, not a hint of sweetness, feel is off, aroma is ok but I can’t recommend this
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrChopin (2065) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Draft at Piece as "Headless". Near black sepia color, thin white head with spotty top. Lightly dusty oatmeal nose, nice attenuation with roast that dominates the light chocolate. Flavor shows a bit more sweetness, watery though a bit more chocolate as well. Carbonation a bit high, draws attention to sugars in finish, though still moderately dry.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - DEC 21, 2010
[Tap] Nearly black pour with little head. Aroma of cream, coffee and roasted malts. The taste is of chocolate, vanilla, dry malts and oatmeal. Notes of ash and grainy astringency come out in the finish. Decent body and easy to drink. Nice and roasty, but not too heavy. This was a pretty enjoyable beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 deyholla (3153) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 18, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a dark brown with a grayish brown head that dissipated completely. Aroma was full of roasted malt, dark bread and other dark grains. Flavor was similar with a bit of oat coming out, but mainly dark grains and roasted malts dominate the beer.

Nice stout. The roastiness sort of sits on top of the other flavors. Only a little bit of the oily-ness of some Oatmeal stouts. Maybe a bit thin? Serving: Tap
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hombrepalo (1317) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 22, 2010
Pint @ Piece. Pours a rich, nearly opaque black with a thick light brown head. Aroma of sweet rolled oats and dry roasted malt. Starts rich and caramel malty sweet with lots of dark chocolate flavors and a touch of hops. Finishes semi-sweet and dry with lingering coffee and chocolate malt.
