Golden in color, hazy with a thin head. Nice easy drinking Belgian ale. These guys did a great job brewing this.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours deep golden with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, fairly simple, some light fruity esters and sweet grain notes, very simple. Flavor is also simple, light fruity notes, honey and grainy, quick finish with not much more complexity. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Sadly a pretty bland beer, not much going on here.

On tap at the Map Room for their 19th anniversary. Pours a crystal clear, deeper golden colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is grainy sweet and apricot fruity. Some Belgian yeast with a light pear, banana, and some other fruity esters as well as some dough and honey cereal. Flavor is similar. Pear esters with some banana and citrus as well as a sweet Belgian yeast and grainy pale malt. A bit doughy and honey sweet in the middle before this finishes pretty dry and grainy with a light yeasty spice and sweet, cereal grain pale malt that leaves a lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an okay beer. Fairly flavorful, but pretty grainy and one-sided with the sweet Belgian yeast. Not bad, but there are better.

Draft at Piece. Transparent gold, thin white ring for a head, minimal lace. Nose is very muted, rice or potato, bit of peppery ester but very bland. Flavor is lightly lactic, grainy, bit of green apple in the soft palate. Carbonation decent but profile weird and disjointed.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear gold with an off white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a good amount of spice with notes of sweet grains and hay. Flavor has a lot of grain and hay with just a hint of spice. A bit bland.

Full sampler on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a pale yellow straw hue, a light glow and a light haze atop with a bright white frothy head, dies to a film and laces small. Aromas are touches of fruity esters, banana and pear mix into bread dough, some honey, vanilla, light sweetness provides a touch of grassy hops, mellow yeast. Initial is sweeter, apples and pears provide some sweeter esters with some bread dough, pale malts, some cereal grains. A touch of honey mixes into those fruity malts into a light malty subtle backend. Faint to nil hop profile. Finish is fairly clean with lingering fruity esters, a touch of Belgian yeasty character, faint honey, vanilla, and no hop character. A faint dryness, with a bit of an empty finish that just let’s the opening linger on. No yeast complexity, does the job and certainly drinkable. But sweeter and not necessarily my thing. Fairly clean sweeter sessionable Belgian that doesn’t necessarily swing my way, but I do understand it’s draw.

I had this on tap into a tasting glass at Piece. A light neon yellow, cloudy, but not as full as most belgians. The aroma is really light hops not much yeast, a skunky finish. Taste is terrible a processed hop with skunk, get this mess out of here. Stay away from this Belgian imposter

I believe they were actually calling this a Belgian "single," but tripel is the category that fits closest here with what I actually tasted. A: Bright yellow with a good white head and pretty decent lacing. S: Pale malt with plenty of Belgian yeast; banana and bubblegum. T: Similar to the nose. The bubblegum is definitely present, as well as some banana and a bit of spiciness. M: Pretty creamy with low carbonation. Fairly light-bodied. D: Very drinkable. Nice and refreshing. Hope they keep this throughout the warmer months. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 04-27-2009

On tap at the brewpub. Pours slightly cloudy pale yellow with a modest white head and a floral aroma. There is a pretty good pale malt flavor with a little banana ester and spice. Good, but a little watery.
