vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Feb 27, 2008 Poured a very dark brown, with some red showing through at the edges. The thick off-white head dropped rapidly. A faint, but typical porter aroma of roasted malt with a hint of smoke. The flavor was roasted malt and dark chocolate with a thin but highly carbonated mouthfeel.
This bottle had what had to be the smallest text I’ve ever seen on a beer bottle, and it was in a script font as well, making it all but impossible to read.
lightning9191 (74), Christiansburg, Virginia, USA Aug 30, 2008 Pours a deep brown with a finger of head. It has a huge, malty nose. The flavors are malty with some solid coffee notes. The maltiness is balanced with hops. The body is a little thinner then I expected. If they bumped the body up on this it would be pretty good. hopscotch (4588), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2008 Bottle… Clear dark brew (mahogany when held up to light) with no head. Syrupy, maple aroma with lesser notes of candied dates, fig, other dark fruits and sweet port wine. Medium to full-bodied with light carbonation. Rich caramel and chocolate malts. Just a touch of bitterness and a hint of acidity. Crisp, lightly tangy, mildly sweet finish. Way better than expected! troyc (976), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jul 10, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark copper/brown color with a small, foamy tan head. Sweet aroma of molasses and cocoa powder. Taste is similar, with a muted roasted character. Light palate. More/better quality ingredients would go a long way to fixing this beer. This stuff isn’t horrible, but leaves something to be desired. Hance07 (182), DownSouth, Georgia, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor is some roasted malts with maybe a hint of chocolate. A bit bitter and watery on the finish. Acknud (607), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jun 21, 2008 Average beer. Good dark color and head. Burnt aroma and roasted malt taste. Palate was a little thin.
