Since 2001, contract-brewed for Pabst Brewing (San Antonio), as Pabst no longer owns a brewery of its own. Piels introduction of Real Draft in cans was a milestone in brewing history. Today’s Draft Style still offers that same unsurpassed tap beer flavor. Brewed by "Piels Bros. Brewing" - a pseudonym for Pabst.

Brilliant clarity with a nice straw gold color, bright white head, and very fine bubbles. The aroma is sweetly malty with a light nuttiness and a touch of hops. The body is light/medium and it has a good mouthfeel. The flavor is exactly as indicated by the nose: lightly nutty malt with a touch of earthy hop. A surprising amount of flavor. The balance leans toward malty sweetness but does not become cloying - although the finish is a little sticky in the mouth. Very clean, well brewed beer.

Can. My buddy got this once on discount. Pale yellow pour, with a medium head. Aromas of skunk and sweet malt; really skunky. Flavor similar, pretty much undrinkable, even at ice-cold temperatures. Really, really bad. [834]

Piels Draft Style Beer has a thick, white head and a very clear straw color. It’s quite bubbly, and should appeal to those who enjoy a highly carbonated beer. The aroma and taste are stereotypical American style lager, meaning it’s good, but commonplace. Mouth-fee is light and watery. Piels finishes crisp and satisfying. Overall, I really enjoy this beer, which is expected, considering this is a favorite style of beer for me. I drank this poured from a 16 oz. can. I bought it in Trevose, Penn. in June, 2010. It is not sold in Louisiana. RJT

Rating 14- This brew brings back memories for me of drinking with my uncles when i was still in high school, so it has a place for me. I actually like the taste of it to a certain extent but can only handle so many of them before I either fill up from the excessive carbonation or just get sick of the taste of it. This beer has its place, but its definitely not something everyone would enjoy.

"Real Draft in cans" - Oooh, baby! Thin-bodied, corn-ridden hogswallop, but free of metallic and overly sale notes. Aftertaste approaches something resembling bread, and the malt’s a little shinier here than in the lesser of style.

From the 355 ml can marked SEP2809-E05070942. It pours pale yellow with lively carbonation and a quarter inch white head. The aroma has a note of malts, grass, and a faint hint of hops. The mouthfeel is on the thin side but not unexpected. The taste combines grains and touch of cool hops and cleanliness. It would be easy to pound a few of these down in an afternoon. I bought this can on September 28, 2009 so I do not know if the marked date is an expiration date or not but it certainly had a crisp, freshness about it, which made it likeable. Maybe it is that draft-tap effect. I am going to rate it a bit higher than my predecessors.

[can - 12 oz] A frat house in a can. Pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is corn, dry hops, and some metal. Flavor is corn, grass, some hops, and some of the can as well. Finishes watery.
