Bottle, 75cL. Home. With dad. Traded with @Jaghana. Merci! A dark brown beer with light hues at the bottom of my glass ; medium beige head ; medium retention ; average lacing. Roasty caramel aroma, light spicy, fruity, herbs. Medium sweet. Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, sweet lasting finish. Overall, OK drinkable christmas beer ; thin ; nothing foolish.

Whole Foods, Bowery sampling (as Pietra Winter, but it seems to be the same beer, especially because of all the references to chestnuts): Pours an amber color with white head. Aroma is slightly floral, with some roasted malts. Body is pretty light. Taste is kind of minimal. I get a bit of chestnut, as some other people opined, but not too much. I’ve brewed beer with chestnut myself before and it is hard to get the taste into it.

[At Jyske Øldage 2004, Kolding] An unclear amber beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy. The flavor is dry and again very spicy.

750mL thanks to argo0. Pours a clear cherry red with a thinning, off-white head that leaves some sticky lace. Aroma is metallic, sharp, some cherry juice box. Taste is watery, full of cherry juicy juice. Palate is dry and suddy.

750 ml bottle. Sweet nutty aroma with caramel malts with just a hint of spice. Pours amber with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Caramel upfront with sweet malts and a nuttiness and a very mild spiciness and very dry finish. In the beginning it drinks like an ale but the finish reminds of a lager.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of tuna salad, carmel, earthiness and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toffee, light tuna, light spice and a hint of fruittiness with a smooth lingering toffee finish.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle. Oddly enough, this says biere de noel on the front, but talks about chestnuts like the strong says in the database. So here we go. It pours hazy reddish brown with a small, off-white head. The nose is putrid and smells like rotting nuts. The taste is equally as foul with some caramel malt and rotting vegetation. I regrettably took another sip just to confirm and then poured the whole bottle down the drain. I can only hope this bottle was off, but based on the other Pietra beers I’ve had, I am not holding out hope. Not recommended.
