Pietra Strong is made with a mixture of selected malts and chestnut powder. It has a good red colour and a tasty foam. Strong and complex, this beer has to be served cool.

Deep amber-copper color, good creamy white head. Mostly cardboardish-papery aroma. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, some odd milky twist, cardboardish. Sweetness covers alcohol, but late burning notes. Past its prime, don’t know if it was any good younger.

Bottle 33cl, a clear amber beer with good head. Nose is on barley sugar and grain. Aroma is nice, smoked malt, red fruit, toasted notes, good, surprised to get a smoked beer from corsica, light metallic notes at the finish with again nice smoked touch.

bottle from Saveur-Biere. Clear amber colour with a red glow. Full-bodied, good malty base, quite tobust with a sharp hoppy touch. Interesting and quite nice.

Small bottle. Gift from Gitte, brought home from Bergamo, Italy, actually. Low grey-shaded blond head. Brownish red body with good clarity. Clean and dry, toasted malt aroma. Herbal and tobacco-like notes from the chestnut added, both in aroma and flavor. Medium full, fairly sweet malt body. Alcohol is noticable, not disturbing. Slick texture. Medium strong body. Finishes drier than the initial flavor. Not an archetype Vienna, yet a tasty and interesting one.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2007 Bottled 0,33L. Creamy and compact head, good adhesion and duration. Scorched dark red color, much fizzy and lightly load. Determined alcohol scent, toasted malt, dry wood and ash. Prickly and harmonious taste. Overbearing bitter with decided hoppy notes. Balanced end, a lot smoked and balmy. Amazing.
Thanks to CEZ for this beer.

Brown body, medium head. Chestnut notes are rather weak. Rich taste, pleasantly sweet but a bit cloying. Medium body. The alcohol punch can be felt. I liked it.

I've never seen this beer in Corsica, so I guess it's a beer made for exportation. Dark mber colour with a decent head. The aroma is alcoholic with obvious traces of chestnut. The flavour isn't so balanced as the normal Pietra and the sweetness (traces of caramel) covers most of the flavour while the aftertaste is too bitter and the chestnut flavour is much lighter. Much worse than the normal Pietra: if you want something similar, but better, try the Christmas Pietra beer (Bière de Noël).
