thill25 (194), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 10, 2008 500 ml can...pours clear cinnamon brown w/ a quickly fading off-white head. The aromas were nuts, malts, and caramel. The flavors were a little surprising. The beer was very nutty w/o being over the top and on the back palate there was quite a bit of smokey undertones. It also contained a smooth, caramel flavor throughout. The palate was almost medium bodied with some miled carbonation. The sweetness carried though to the finish. I was surprised by how much I like this beer!
RCL (1113), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 30, 2008 Lovely light amber color with good lacing. Flavor and aroma are pretty uninspiring. Tight aroma of non-descript malts. Don’t get much chestnut out of this; maybe a little bit in the flavor. Pretty standard, mediocre beer. oldrtybastrd (1793), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Oct 30, 2008 Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a orange/amber color. Aromas of malts/caramel, sweet smelling. Sweet flavors of caramel with some hops/fruit. mmmbeer (603), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 17, 2008 750 mL bottle in trade from RCL, I think... thanks! Served in shaker- after a week from the 7th layer of hell and being in a place with laughable beer selections (they’re coming, trust me), I thought I would unpack this one, put it on ice and see what happens. Poured transparent tan copper very low carbonation (the cork was tight, must be how it is), no head. Aroma of wheat, nuts, and ginger (?). Hits the mouth with a thin body, malt is there but alot of water in the way, a very slight note of sweetness in the middle, finish has a very slight hope note. More like a lager, definately not a vienna. Interesting that it’s made in Corsica, but that’s about all in it’s appeal. Schultsc (435), Henderson, Nevada, USA Sep 1, 2008 Intriguing brownish orange-gold with a quickly dissipating head. Mild, grainy, nutty, slightly toasty aroma. Those aspects are repeated verbatim in the flavor--with the addition of a touch of malt sweetness. No hops character. Very thin, watery mouthfeel. Little of interest here, aside from the fact that it’s brewed on Corsica.
