Keg at mother Kelly’s. Hazed dark orange, amber coloured pour with a lasting creamy head. Aroma is earthy grains, red Berry, musty, mineral, subdued. Flavour is composed of brown bread, toast, cranberry, little earthy metallic, grainy. Palate is medium light bodied, higjish carbonation. Little hint of smoke adds nicely to the complexity.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Who’d Ha Thought It, Rochester. Starts sweet and pleasant, but then the bitter comes come in and it’s starts to become a struggle to get through that biitterness. Half a pint or less is OK, but a pint is a genuine struggle. The pump clip had been modified to show 5% abv.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask gravity at Wallington 2014. It pours cloudy mahogany brown with a decent bubbly beige head. The nose is piney, resinous, red grapefruit, jammy fruit and light caramel. The taste is pretty bitter, earthly, resin, some astringency, varnish, jammy fruits with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice punchy hops and tasty jammy character.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned handpump Evening Star Brighton 18/05/14. An almost red coloured beer with a whitish bubbly head. A sweet fruity jammy beer. A wee bit thin in the mouth. Sweetness isn’t oppressive but it’s a bit of a nuisance. Nose is nice. Don’t know why this beer has to be brewed to this strength. Would prefer much more drinkability.

Cask gravity at Firkin Ale House Folkestone. Clear deep mahogany. Pnw hop aroma. Good malts. I mean it’s a kind of American amber. And it’s ok. Bit burnt but ok.
