Commercial Description:
Check out our website at http://www.pigseyebeer.com/Main.htm Pig’s Eye Pilsner is the flagship brand of the award-winning Pig’s Eye Family of brands. Pig’s Eye Pilsner is contract brewed by Stevens Point Brewing (and possibly City Brewing) with 6-row robust barley malt and a combination of Cluster, Cascade and Fuggle hops, to achieve a balance between bitterness, aroma and malt sweetness. Enjoy!

Sampled at ABR 07 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pours a clear pale straw brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring. Aroma of bready malt and a touch of citrus zest hops. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with a light bready malt and a touch of citrus zest bitterness. Finish is slightly metallic, a hint of citrus bitterness and then clean finish. Man, I sure miss the Minnesota Brewing Company’s version.

Also consumed at Fake Christmas. It is really hard to say anything that hasn’t already been said about this beer. Cheap, clear skunk that didn’t taste very good, but it gets you drunk.

Finally, I get around to Pig’s Eye...all it took was finding a can marked down to $.75 in the Zipp’s bargain bin. Gotta say I miss seeing Pierre Parrant’s face on the can. Maybe that’s him in the canoe, but it’s the grinning, eyepatched, bearded guy I liked to see. Clear pale yellow color, big, clean, snowy white head. Aroma’s not bad, clean, (I’m gonna keep saying that), slightly grainy...slightly sour, and citric, but ever-so ...not too much here, but nothing bad, either. Taste: wet and wet. Minimal flavor, not enough to call itself a pilsner. Nothing from the hop side, and scarce malt, as well. No finish. Light bodied, Forgettable. For beer drinkers with low expectations, this will do just fine. Underwhelming for me, to say the least. But when cheapness, alcohol, and water and your main priorities, in that order, it fills the bill.

ABR 2007 Some pilsner character, but not a lot other than a little malt. Not too metallic on the finish.

Not sure why, but I really like this beer. My wife and I actually won a 12-pack of it while at a tavern somewhere in Wisconsin, and have been trying to find it ever since to get away from the MHL, MGD, etc., we usually drink. MUCH better than either of those.

Arrgh, matey, time to give this swill the heave ho over the side. Did have a thick foamy off white head. Yellow gold. Beery, slightly spice aroma. Smells better than tastes. Bland. Heavy with adjuncts.

Smells like a kernel of corn took a morning piss. Tastes worse. Even in the can, fresh (or as best as you can expect), this had to be one of the worst of the cheapies available for the Oklahoma campus cheap drinkers. Sometimes when you swig back a drink from the can it feels slimy like someone already puked in the can for you.
