incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Jan 28, 2005 It says "retired" by this beer, but you can still get it at most stores in the Twin cities area. Super cheap , 8 bucks for a case about, but actualy pretty tasty for a swill brew. Less taste then old style i would say, but i like to get it every so often just for grins. M1 (12), hibbing, Minnesota, USA Jan 26, 2004 Lots of bang for the buck. Tastes pretty good for a cheep beer, and doesnt give you an "I drunk skunk pee" aftertaste. Not my first choice of beers, but can be enjoyed. Average taste, smells pretty good, and looks good pouring out of the can into my mouth. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 22, 2009 12oz can. Thin, pale yellow color meets $3.99 6-pack price tag...uh oh. Hmm..actually not so horrendous. Adjuncty grain bill never brutalizes, and there is some discernable hop balance. Watery and thin, but pretty good for the budget beer it is. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Aug 8, 2007 Not sure why, but I really like this beer. My wife and I actually won a 12-pack of it while at a tavern somewhere in Wisconsin, and have been trying to find it ever since to get away from the MHL, MGD, etc., we usually drink. MUCH better than either of those. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Jan 6, 2008 Skunky tasting pilsener. I didn’t think it was that bad but I wouldn’t drink this again. Good cheap attempt at a beer. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 27, 2007 Yellowish color, not exactly golden. Not even a quarter inch of head. Mild olive-like aroma.
Not quite medium body, a little bit of generic sweetness, not quite offset by not quite discernable hops. A little bit of a metallic aftertaste. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 17, 2005 The beer after its release from the 12-ounce can sets in the glass a cloudless gold with a towering white frothy head that after its desiccation leaves a thin sheet of lace to conceal the glass. Nose is sweet malt, fresh and crisp to the senses, start is sweet with a light grain profile and the top thin. Finish is stern in its acidity and the hops light in their spiciness, dry aftertaste that lingers, a light beer lover might find this tolerable, I find it way to light for me. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 28, 2007 Finally, I get around to Pig’s Eye...all it took was finding a can marked down to $.75 in the Zipp’s bargain bin. Gotta say I miss seeing Pierre Parrant’s face on the can. Maybe that’s him in the canoe, but it’s the grinning, eyepatched, bearded guy I liked to see.
Clear pale yellow color, big, clean, snowy white head.
Aroma’s not bad, clean, (I’m gonna keep saying that), slightly grainy...slightly sour, and citric, but ever-so ...not too much here, but nothing bad, either.
Taste: wet and wet. Minimal flavor, not enough to call itself a pilsner. Nothing from the hop side, and scarce malt, as well. No finish. Light bodied, Forgettable.
For beer drinkers with low expectations, this will do just fine. Underwhelming for me, to say the least. But when cheapness, alcohol, and water and your main priorities, in that order, it fills the bill.
