Commercial Description:
Pike Double IPA is a golden hued beauty in the glass. Weighing in at 8% alcohol and 80+ IBU’s it is strong yet balanced. It features Columbus; Chinook; Centennial; Cascade; and Amarillo hops - and is dry hopped with Amarillo and Columbus giving the beer a wonderful aromatic nose. Balanced and drinkable are the key words - like all Pike Beers.

Bottle:   Hazy amber, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Hoppy citrus rind on the nose.   Looks and smells solid.   Good dose of rind on the tongue.   A little bright, young, biting, but otherwise hoppy with a soft malt background.   One of the better Pike beers I have had in a while.   Wouldn’t mind if this was a bit maltier.   Bottle says 8% but I hear its actually 8.8%.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Clean finish, lingering rind and hops.   This is solid, straight forward.   Very easy to drink.   Good hoppy notes.  Would have like more maltiness tho.   Thanks Ian!

Deep amber, with a minimal head. Impressive pine aroma. Heavy and bitter, like a DIPA should be.

A lightly hazed amber IPA with a thin lacing off white head. A nice aroma of floral hops bouquet, orange pulp, more citrussy. In mouth, nice biscuitty malts, with some good, yet light, citrussy hops, not bad, but lighter than expected. On tap at brewpub, Sept. 12 2009.

Smells very similar to the regular IPA. This actually tastes incredibly close to the reg IPA as well, up until the aftertaste which has a much stronger bite.

bomber & draft during SBW - much better in the bottle IMO; clear orange with fluffy white head leaving some soapy lace; sweet, fruity, resiny hop nose; very nice; bitter zing in the dry finish; could be a little more sweet for my liking, but quite nice overall

Acquired a 22-oz bottle via trade with RiversideAK. Pours a hazy orange amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus zest, some light caramel and then some pine. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of bitterness to go around with more flavors of grapefruit, some grassy hops and a hint of yeast. Finish is sweet and bitter with some powdered caramel malt and citrus. Still, it’s one solid double IPA.

Draft at the brewery... hazy light orange with a huge biting green hops bitterness. Earthy and dusty Northwest hops, with big malt support. Along the lines of most well-done imperial IPA’s, but not extraordinary.
