22oz bottle 9/21/16 (Pike Brewing-SEA)-44į in Snifter-Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Taste of the same with a bit of coffee and roasted malt. This full bodied brew is darn tasty and definitely the best Pike brew I have had. Donít understand the low rating?

Brown black with tan head. Aroma is vanilla richness with light oak. Taste is the same with huge barrel richness with a greater wood emphasis. Good stuff, thanks, Dan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at winter fest. Originally went for a BA kilt lifter, but was side-sold to this one. Dark brown pour, opaque, good head and lacing. Aroma: vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, and roast -- the usual suspects. Taste follows, well-integrated whiskey, on the sweeter side but with pleasant balanced roast finish. Smooth texture, full- body. Overall: Iím impressed by this.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate dark chocolate, molasses, light dark fruits, and vanilla. It pours a dark brown with barely some orange highlights. It has a small khaki head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a very fine ring. There is some very fine webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with dark chocolate and roasted malt. There is some light dark fruits in the background. The finish has light vanilla, roasted coffee, and a touch of black licorice. Itís medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

I am usually not a big fan of Pike brews, but this one does it. They have achieved great beer status with this beer for sure. Ranks right up there as one of my favorites.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2015 Bottle (22oz. $): nearly black with brown head. Aroma of chocolate and whiskey. Taste the same bu lots if toasted malts with a metallic taste in the end. I like the style but too many others I like better. Update: 2/24/15: I do not not think metallic is a good descriptor. Its more of a coffee flavored bitterness, but for me, thatís not really better since I do not like coffee. Was 3.5 now 3.4.

Draft - Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and roast malts. Rich brown head with a jet black body. Lots of woody bourbon notes, chocolate, sweet vanilla and a very light bitter finish. Boozy but nice.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2014 Sampler at Chucks. Black with tan lacing. Too much whiskey but the base impy is nice, not sweet, well attenuated. All whiskey in flavor. End is bitter and dry leaf booze.

"No infection issues here, and either I found a mistake, or the price has come way down to match the price of all theor other bombers. $4.99 is easily the cheapest barreled bomber Iíve ever bought (though it is a blend). The hops of the base stout come through more than expected, as dose a highly roasted and slightly smokey character. The barreling is obvious, but light in comparison to many others out there. Quite complex, and a steal at the price point (Total Wine)..."

22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some oak and vanilla, hot alcohol, some weird chocolate notes, and almost soda-like properties. Flavor the same. Average texture. A weird beer.
