biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Mar 23, 2008 Hazy, little head. Northwestern C-15 malt and citrus hop (Centennial?) aroma. Juicy malt and grapefruit hop flavor. Low carbonation and light body. Has the makings of a great IPA but needs to be brightened up. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Mar 11, 2008 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington. Pours a clear golden amber brew with a thick off-white head that quickly dissipates to a white ring and film top. Nice spotty lacing on glass side. Aroma of mild flowery and citrus hops, a touch of light caramel malt, and some iced tea character. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of light roasted multi-grain malt, some orange zest, a touch of Asian lychee and flowery hops. Finish is semi-dry, a mild bitterness with a light aftertaste if citrus fruit and light malt. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Poured light and golden amber with virtually no head. Aroma is tea-like and so is the beer to a degree. Malty, like a malt ball, with a nice tart topper. Enjoyable brew. (#3307, 1/21/2008) hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jan 21, 2008 Draft at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle, WA. White head that was mostly lasting, excellent lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a golden hue. Hoppy floral nose and ditto for the flavor with a dry finish. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Nicely done, very quaffable and worth a try! elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Dec 29, 2007 Pours a cloudy copper color with a white head. Has hints of sweet potent hops, citrus, caramel, and spice. Finishes with a refreshing citrus taste on the tongue. bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA Dec 25, 2007 Bottle. Floral citrus hop aroma. Amber color with a white head that left light ring lace. Medium body with chewy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt with lots of mixed hop. Citrus, floral, perhaps a little resin. Finish is quite dry and bitter. A good one. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 17, 2007 For those who enjoy a full-bodies hoppy beer that is not as traditionally hopped as many of the modern Pacific Northwestern IPAs on the market, the Pike IPA offers a dry and flowery mouthfeel that is closer to the original historical IPAs than what we witness today in the hopped-out present. This gold medal winner is very drinkable and very refreshing is this classic beer. Poured an amber-copper hazy body with a medium-sized white top. Very nice IPA! cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2007 Fresh bottle from the shop down the road, pricey sixer so I settled for a single.....wise choice. Should state "Pike Pale Ale" as this is a distance from being an IPA. Great hazy orange/copper pour with some major sediment. 1/2" thick creamy head and legs of lacing. Aroma has some juicy floral hops along with a dense malt nose, I really like the scent but there’s a minimal amount of hop bite in it, great for an APA. Medium body with a clean yet unsatisfying finish, a little thin at the end with a faint bitter hint. Nicely balanced with thick doughy malt and some citrus hops. A touch of fresh butter and greens. Good beer, it is very enjoyable, however this would score much better as an APA so I tried to keep my rating in the middle of the styles.
