jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA May 5, 2006 Golden amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma was floral and hoppy, as was the taste. Flavor is clean, crisp and included floral tones, citrus, and a nice hoppiness. A solid IPA from Pike. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 20, 2006 Draught Pale, slightly hazy orange; small persistent rim. Good, but not really convincing hoppy nose, flowery. A good cookie-malt base for a decent hopgift, grapefruit-y, citruszeste, and hopcake. Burning MF, but again, in generaly a bit watery. Good taste, reasonable balance, failing MF. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Apr 13, 2006 Hazy golden amber with a frothy off-white head. Grapefruit hops aroma with touches of malt, pine, spice, and florals. Medium body, lively carbonation, thin texture. Nice bitterness in the taste. A decent, but not exceptional, IPA. Hanratty (36), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 26, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Nice aroma, nicely balanced, a lot of hop aromas & lavour w/o going over the top. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Mar 11, 2006 12oz bottle at the Winking Lizard in Columbus Ohio - Pours cloudy amber with a fair offwhite head. Aroma is great grapefruit, light caramel malts and some pine as well. Flavor is nice and hoppy grapefruit, floral, but balanced pretty well with the sweet caramel malts. Some definitely pineapple and apricot flavor as well. Palate is medium bodied, tilts a little towards the hops as expected for a PNW brew. Pretty nice compliment to the Cajun Chicken Sandwich for lunch. I enjoyed this. CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Mar 1, 2006 A gift from seattle. Aroma is very good...warm citrus and apples...creamy hops and a bit of sourness. Flavor isn’t as good...it is nicely bitter but in a funky way. Tastes like soap. Very unblanced malt profile as well. Palate is dirty and slimey. Wow this isn’t very good!. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Feb 26, 2006 12oz. bottle. Gold-yellow, with a medium sized white head. Sweet and soapy hop aroma, some buttery malt underneath. Heavy floral hop flavor, slightly acrid. Rather sweet malt bracing the hop component. Soapy finish with a residual sweetness and a lingering resin astringency. Mouthfeel is medium, dry. JoeMcPhee (4911), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 6, 2006 Deep copper coloured beer. Fruity citrus and grapefruit with some other tropical (papaya) notes on top. Just enough crystal to let you know its there. Well-balanced beer. Could use more bitterness, but otherwise is pretty tasty. The best they make after the stout, but doesn’t come close to how good that is.
