IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 29, 2009 Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose oflight citrus and piney hops and a light spice presence. Almost clear copper orange with a medium, lightly lacing, cream colored head. Flavor is moderately bitter with some caramel in the background. Finish is light bitterness. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 26, 2009 Updated: Aug 2, 2009Pours a thin, fading, light tan head and an amber-golden body. Smells of floral hops and some pine. Flavor is floral, resin, and honeyed. Finish is slightly bitter and floral. smcolw (314), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA Jul 24, 2009 The beer opens with foam oozing out of the bottle. Oddly, there is a very small head--light, spotty lace. The liquid is cloudy with an orange amber color.
Pretty good balance for an IPA. The hop nose is spicy and lacking floral notes. The malt smell is slightly sweet with a touch of caramel.
Biting bitter hop (bottle says 60 IBU’s). The aftertaste is like sucking a hop pellet; it lasts a very, very long time. Full bodied with a high level of carbonation.
Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jul 17, 2009 Poured a nice hazy copper and orange color with a sizable white to off-white head that collapsed slowly and produced good lacing. The aroma was earthy, pine hops, light citrus and spice. The flavor was pine hops (tasted like cascade), plenty of spice and some light citrus. Not all that sweet. Nice body and mouthfeel. Almost one-dimensional but pretty well put together. beerfest5 (128), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA Jul 15, 2009 a little too malty for a good IPA. the hops dont come through enough, its almost too balanced. A good IPA should be overwhelmingly hoppy and this is way too sweet. I gave it a try but I wont do it again. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange/brown with a thick white head. Aroma of caramel malt and light fruity (especially tropical fruits) hops. Flavor of bitter grassy hops initially with some citrus and piney hops too. Nice IPA. Slightly on the bitter side but still pretty decent.
7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5) fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 30, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of bread, earth, gumdrops (semi-minty), light citrus and raspberry. Flavor is very balanced with bready/toasted malt and bittering hops, which have an increasingly spicy feel to them as well as some tart fruit edges. Not too exciting until that hint of tart, tropical fruit, but still a decently bitter IPA. beer4mencc1701 (21), Irving, Texas, USA Jun 30, 2009 Bottle, from Central Market. Poured cloudy amber with quickly dissipating head & no lacing. Smells of white grapes, lychee, honey and very yeasty. No strong hops smell. Taste was roasty-toasty, biscuity, alcohol forward and not as bright as other IPAs. Coats mouth with flavor (thick for an IPA). Dry finish, noticeable but pleasant boozey marmalade toast aftertaste.
