Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Brown poiur. Nutty hoppy fruity aroma. Toffee, hops, yeast, dark fruit and alcohol in the flavor. Odd for a scotch ale but good.

Draft. Poured dark hazy brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

(bottle) amber with off white head. Malt aroma. Flavor is rich malt; didnt really pick up on the peat until someone mentioned it so that may have been my imagination - not a lot there.

Appearance is a slightly hazy brown amber in color supporting a dissipating head leaving nill lace. Smell of mainly malt thats slightly peaty and light in dark fruitiness. Taste is mainly malt, dark fruits, light hop with a peat note. mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation.

Decent smell, hits the nose sour. Very nice color but a little to opaque for my preference. Nothing spectacular about the taste or texture, but nothing very unpleasant either. Not a bad beer but not great either.
