Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Pours a but if a cloudy orange-golden with a large, eggshell colored head. The nose is somewhere in the middle of apple, green grapes, and honeydew melow. Some caramel notes float beneath. A bit puffy in the mouthfeel. More caramel in the flavor than in the aroma. Quite weak though.

Clear slightly dark amber under a thin light tan ring of head. The aroma is dark and biscuity with a light touch of molasses and earthy nuttiness. Big rich nutty flavor with some sweet earthy molasses and rich dark toast. But still quaffable, not too sweet or cloy. Just right in the middle and nutty and bready and dark.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a bright amber/copper color with a one and a half finger white foamy head. Adequate foamy lacing clings nicely to the glass. The smell had the typical meaty/peatiness is pretty scaled back in this one, but I do get it slightly with a decent Caramel maltiness lends a decent aroma. The taste was mainly sweet with a decent balanced cararmel maltiness coming out leading to the same flavored aftertaste but leaves a watery finish. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium to show a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation is super smooth and is decent for the style wow. Overall, this is a good drinking Scotch ale well worthy of coming back to and well worthy of having with its respected meal.

Tap. Pours a clear copper to amber body with a frothy one finger off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is sweet and malty with some toasted and grainy malt. The flavor is pretty nice, sweet but not over bearing. The toasty malt dries it out a bit towards the back end. Lingering huskiness. A slightly sweet candy-like caramel finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, a bit clingy and sticky, with soft fizzy carbonation. Serviceable enough, but nothing that sticks out.

IBU 27. Poured into a frozen mug. Beautiful appearance. Copper red. Tiny bubbles. Medium head. No real aroma that stands out at all. Taste lightly hopped, malty and sweet. Average beer at best. Pike makes a much better IPA ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The Pikeís Kilt Lifter was one of the first beers that I drank when I moved out here to the Seattle area. Since there are so many beers to try and so little time, I havenít tried the same beer twice since Iíve been out here, but since I hadnít done a quick review on this one and It was so good, I had to try it again. The Kilt Lifter pours a nice reddish amber color with a thick tan head.It smells a little like a sweet yeast bread. It tastes mildly of a smoke and orange with a hint of sweet malt. It is nicely carbonated, itís like a peach on the palate. It is easy to drink and went well with a spicy meal.

Don't really know Scottish ales but this it's a stout to me. Carmel flavors and aromas. Nice and smooth but that's about it Rated by CEO of Frankbrewco

On draught at Blast Burger. Dark golden brown color with light tan head. Aroma is smoked peat, sweet caramel malt, and light grass hops. Taste is sweet breast malt, caramel, toffee, peat, and grass. Sweet finish with a touch of bitter at the end.
