3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Itís winter now and that means dry air in the house. Dry air means sore throats and sore throats mean going to sleep with a lozenge in my mouth. For various biological and parental reasons, I lack the ability to unconsciously consume a lozenge while I sleep. Flash forward two hours later and I startle awake with cotton mouth and a dry stone lozenge against my sticky cheek. And that is what I think of with this beer. Itís a bit of sweet toffee with mild flavors and more balance towards the hops than Iíd have thought.

1.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
The aroma carries some malt and a hint of peat. Unfortunately that is all overpowered by a bitter, almost rancid flavor. Not good at all.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a beer can glass on 06.13.14.
A: Very thin tan mess of a head. It recedes from splotches to nothing. Cloudy brown body.
S: Very faint caramel and earthiness.
T: Follows the nose.
M: It feels flat even though there are some bubbles on the tongue.
O: This looked and tasted like flavored water. I donít have an idea of how old it was since they donít date their bottles, but this is the 3rd Pike beer out of 3 that have been like this. Theyíre local, so this should not be a problem as much as it is. Drain pour.

(Bottle) Lots of intense malty sweetness. But some bitter astringency too. Not that good.
