2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
IBU 27. Poured into a frozen mug. Beautiful appearance. Copper red. Tiny bubbles. Medium head. No real aroma that stands out at all. Taste lightly hopped, malty and sweet. Average beer at best. Pike makes a much better IPA

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a beer can glass on 06.13.14.
A: Very thin tan mess of a head. It recedes from splotches to nothing. Cloudy brown body.
S: Very faint caramel and earthiness.
T: Follows the nose.
M: It feels flat even though there are some bubbles on the tongue.
O: This looked and tasted like flavored water. I don’t have an idea of how old it was since they don’t date their bottles, but this is the 3rd Pike beer out of 3 that have been like this. They’re local, so this should not be a problem as much as it is. Drain pour.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Pike - lighty hazy dark copper - rich maltiness (toffee) is complimented by some plumy sweetness, a bit of bread pudding - some balancing leafy bitterness - lingering toffee finish - nice.

(Bottle) Lots of intense malty sweetness. But some bitter astringency too. Not that good.

Amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is large maltiness, earthy hops, and a toucho smoke. Large malt flavor a very pleasant floral bitter finish. Medium body with good carbonation. I really like this beer. @bp

"ok. it’s a little too sweet, and not quite full enough, but it was a pleasant enough beer. there are better out there, so i probably won’t have it again. 8/09-better on tap at the source, but what isn’t? more smoke, especially in the flavor, which is nice, but still a touch thin and sweet. upgrade to a 3.3 though (3.1 bottle, 3.4 tap)."

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
8oz draft in small Sam Smith glass at Hummingbird in Columbia City, Seattle. Slick dark homey amber color. Light lacing. Clear beer. Slightly cleaner and a bit of hop but otherwise to style malt sweetness and earthy malt mix. A faint fruit British yeast character. Very nice American version of the style.

Pint on tap at the brewery. Tasty little scotch ale, I’m a huge fan of the style, and there’s plenty of tasties to go around with this batch. yum.
