COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Kind of dry with a sour aftertaste, but has a good robust selection of smokey flavors. Perhaps not as ’chewy’ as it could be, but a good hop-flavor and charecter.

Decent smell, hits the nose sour. Very nice color but a little to opaque for my preference. Nothing spectacular about the taste or texture, but nothing very unpleasant either. Not a bad beer but not great either.

Ambrée foncée avec une petite mousse blanche. L’arome de malt et scotch. Le gout et légèrement sucré et du scotch. C’est pas aqueux, mais je trouve qu’il manque un peu du corps.

I love this reddish delightful beer. It is easy to drink, slightly malty sweet at the end and finishes without any horrible bitter hoppiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Caramel malty aroma with a hint of wild ale smell. Cloudy honey colored with foamy off white head. Slightly smokey. Iced tea. Light bodied. Dry finish.

Pours amber-brown with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is caramelized malts. Taste is identical to aroma with a very light bitter finish. This beer is earthy and comfortable.

On tap at Pike Brew Pub, Seattle. One of the best Scotch Ale ever. Nice dark golden color, perfect smokiness... I love it...

Amber color with small head. Mild aroma, some malt, beans. Regular mouthfeel with some malt flavor and ordinary bitterness.
Simple beer.

22 oz. bottle. English pint shows a dirty, light amber color with low carbonation giving almost no head. Nose is mild peat and malt. Taste is light malt sweetness with a bit of touch of peat flavor and a grassy, Earthy hop. Something is not quite balanced with this brew. Thin body with an oily texture. I don’t really enjoy the hop and malt mixture here. Nothing real horrible about it; just not my thing.

Tap at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle - 09/11/12. Clear mid amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edge and forms a small pond. Nose is light caramel, ribena, smoke, dark malts. Taste is malt forward, incorporates light wood tones, toffee, dark sugars, puff of smoke. Medium bodied with light prickly carbonation. Drinkable for a style that doesn’t exist with a comedic (not) Scottish name! Would I order it again - nah!
