Pike Monks Uncle Tripel Ale

Tap from Organic Brewers Fest... Poured golden with a beige head. Spiced aroma with the standard triple yeast smell. Soft palate with sweet and herbal flavors and a biscuit-like grain character. Light nutmeg and squash.

from old notes - tap at pike pub at the fish market in seattle. clear blond pour. aroma of citrus and spice. tastes of banana and pepper hops. medium bodied. came off with a stench. meh.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (straw, hay, bread), light hop (flowers), average yeast (dough) with notes of pear, apple, banana, and coriander. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

light fruity aroma. Pours gold, slightly cloudy, thin head. Sweet, dry with an alcoholy finish. So-so.

"Nope not a good triple, it seems they tried to make this beer with a west coast citrus hop twist and I don’t like the end result. Honey brown body crystal clear (what’s not right for the style) and had a minimal cap. Getting some faint skunk in the nose with yeast , lemon, and pepper. All the right smells are here but it’s just not coming together in a good way. Taste is not bad actually but it’s off for the style. Nice yeast malts flavour, some mild but noticeable alcohol, good spice but hiding in the background there’s a west coast hop flavour, (sweet bitter citrus) what seems very out of place. Weird beer to review because I liked it but it missed the style, for a triple its not very good but just for a beer to drink its ok. But in saying that would I ever buy it again….No. If I want a triple I want a real Belgium Triple (eg. La Fin Du Monde, Tripel Karmeliet, Gouden Carolous Tripel) and if I wanted a west coast Hopped beer I’ll grab a IPA. So I’m actually unsure how I feel about the beer."

Nice nose and appearance, but the palate and flavours were lacking. No real spiciness.

Bottle. Pours a weak corn yellow with an aroma of malt liquor corn syrup and bitter bread. Flavor is a lagery mess of corn syrup, butter, hay, and a touch of bready peach. Average mouthfeel. This beer just isn’t clicking. Something went wrong along the way.
