can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Sep 8, 2009 An unexpected Belgian style beer on a menu that is pretty dominated by Brittish styles. Sweet caramel aroma complimented by faint citrus. Flavor is all big chewy banana with a faint spicy backdrop. Bright yellow color with a white head. Can almost taste the higher ABV. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Sep 6, 2009 Bottle@Home. Quite fruit with sweet cookie dough. Pale yellow, off-white head, good lace. Very sweet, very fruity, quite bitter, laurel, lightly spiced, full bodied. Technically well brewed but a bit clean and too sweet. Dry. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 17, 2009 2009 Bottle - Pours a hazt pale orange with a large off white head...aroma is spicy malt and bread, slight heat present in the nose...flavour is very nice initially, yeasty, banana and pear, clove, and takes on a sticky sweet metal quality near the end that challenged its enjoyability quotient...decent... jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Aug 13, 2009 22 oz bomber brought from seattle. pours a hazy flax color, with minimal white head. aroma is primarily bread and malt, with some banana-like yeast esters behind. little to no hops bitterness as expected, and only the slightest bit of alcohol heat in the back of the nose. flavor is sweet forward, with belgian yeast and typical tripel characteristics. overly sweet to cover alcohol, and although there aren’t any obvious flaws it’s not an excellent beer. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 11, 2009 ’07 bottle August ’09.
Light golden pour, slightly hazy, modest white head. Fruity (pear) aroma, less yeast character than expected, sweet with essentially no hop presence at two years. Fairly smooth, decently drinkable, far from exceptional. In other words, pretty much as expected. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours copper with a white head. Smells of dry malt, residual sugar, bananas, coriander, spicy. Tastes of ginger, dry malt, spicy, fruity, some peppery splashes on the finish.
