hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada May 29, 2009 Pours a yellowy orange with a nice white sticky billowy head. Aroma is very musty, almost mushroom/miso, smelling. Some soft and citrus fruit showing. Grain, honey, yeasty bread, but mainly a dank corner of an abandoned basement on the nose. Flavor is sweet and bitter... too bitter for the style IMHO. Grainy malt, orange rind, honey, toothpaste, a funny rubbery aftertaste and stale dehydrated mushroom. Palate is not lively enough for the style. Just feels heavy. Not enjoying this one too much, not awful... just not really good. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA May 21, 2009 Clear light amber with a frothy white head. Big yeasty estery aroma with mild sulfer and grainy pale malts. Medium body. Flavor mirrors aroma here with sweet candi sugar, pale malt grist, and light sulfer. Nicely bitter finish. Better than i remember this brew being way back when. LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA May 18, 2009 Appearance: Dark yellow gold with a pin stripe of bubbles.
Aroma: Dry and fruity yeast, and some cloves.
Taste: Dry malts, fruity yeast, spicy hops, and citrus fruit.
Mouthfeel: Juicy.
Overall: Really good, and in my mind, pretty authentic-like. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada May 15, 2009 660ml brown bottle. Light gold in colour, Some haze. Nice sized white head which lasts a while and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is yeasty, light citrus. Some malt sweetness in the mouth, honey, citrus flavours, fruity and yeasty. Dry finish, some leafy notes, light lingering bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Nice tripel. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA May 14, 2009 Pours a light golden hue with a very small head for what claims to be a tripel. Nice, spicy-sweet, fruity aroma, very true to the style. Yeasty, peppery flavor makes up for some of what it lacks in carbonation - this is definitely an American attempt at a Belgian brew, but I like it. Full mouthfeel, and a big flavor, with a malty aftertaste I liked a lot. For a bomber that cost less than $5, this is great... but in the grand scheme of things, it’s merely good. scrizzz (1248), kirkland, Washington, USA May 1, 2009 Slight haze to the brilliant gold, tall fluffy head. Strong complex aroma of wet horse, liquid candy and dry wheat. I cannot think of any other domestic tripel that smells this true. There’s a seawater saltiness here, along with more dry wheat. Very much enjoyed. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Mar 29, 2009 Taster – 2009 Washington Cask Beer Festival- Seattle, WA
Aroma: Big Belgian aroma with a good amount if spices to smell.
Appearance: Amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Full malt brew with a nice fruit flavor to add. This was complex with good yeast.
Palate: Dry Belgian finish, with a good Mouthfeel.
Overall: The triple was complex with a good amount of yeast and added spices and fruit flavors. This was a fine brew.
pivo (2535), Germany Jan 17, 2009 This rather dissappoints from the beginning. Looks good - hazy gold with a low head--but one whiff and you know this didn’t come from the Old World. Sugary sweet body and a lots of yeast notes with a peppery end--what you’d expect from the flavor profile of a tripel. So they got that right. But the balance is off--too sweet, and the flavors themselves aren’t authentic.
