Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 26, 2009 Poured out a nice orange / red hazy brew with lots of very very fine particles, minimal carbonation, tan crown with good retention and excellent sticky and ropy lacing. The aroma is odd but interesting. A decent twist on the American PA. Fresh, faint grapefruit, orange, some spice, floral with soft malts. A sugary smell comes out when warmer. The taste comes across watery and needs more flavour. Tangy, spicy hops, ok malts. A poor representation of the style - not sure if they were going for something something different or if they just blew it. Watery, light bodied, medium spicy bitter finish with a good long, lingering aftertaste. Needs more carbonation. Totally drinkable. Taverner (728), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 24, 2009 Aroma is a stalish malt flavor. Pours alber with tan head. Tastes more like an Amber Ale than an APA. Sweet, but ends dry. Simple, not complex. scrizzz (986), kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 18, 2009 Clear copper, small white head. Jasmine aroma, little caramel too. Medium-full body, malt-forward. Finally a PNW pale that isn’t hoppy. Not to say I don’t like that. Not too much caramel or body and it’s not supposed to. Good times. Cirrhosis (550), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 8, 2009 Beer appear to be clear and copper in color, with a very minimal head barley a skiff appears on top and when I give it a swirl the small amount of bubbles spin slowly looking a picture of a hurricane from space, nothing great looking about this brew. Very sweet aroma, hops dominate but not to over powering and the hops aren’t citrusy they have more of a candy sugar quality. I think after ten minutes of smelling I’ve smelled all smell out of this brew can’t pick up a thing anymore. This beer has more bitter then flavor, mild citrucy hops and is nice and malty, I’m really digging the maltiness of this brew. This is getting more and more bitter by the second, the warmer it gets the more bitter it is. The brew is very simple, not complex at all and that is a good thing some times when you just want a beer to slam." stchloe (403), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 2, 2009 Sweeter pale ale than most. Malt is heavy and slightly balanced by the hop profile, but in the end meh. Capa (891), Yokosuka, Japan Jun 2, 2009 Pale orange with minimal white head. Heavy sweet malty aroma with some fruit and light grass hops. Aroma is just too sweet for me. Flavor is sweet but has slightly better balance with the hops. Malts, molasses, light citrus hops, a touch of earth, and a malty, bready finish. Syrupy mouth. Decent, but not what I’m looking for in a pale. KnN (615), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jun 1, 2009 On tap at the Pike Brewery. Poured a nnice copper color with a thin white head. Aroma was malty, a bit of grapefuit and other citrus. Good pale ale. I’d be happy if Igot this during a homebrew session. blutt59 (1638), Dallas, Texas, USA May 29, 2009 bottle, almod color with some white lasting foam, aroma is malty sweet syrup, flavors of sugar cookies, maple syrup, malt, good finish
