Tap@Pike. A fairly easy going pale ale. Aromatic hops of course. Some toast and toffee, with a lemony finish, a bit more English than American? Pretty spot on as far as pale ales go, just not overly interesting.

here’s a pretty nice, well-made pale ale, no big bells and whistles-- and where would you put a whistle anyway? amber-orange color straight from the handbook, very clear, and with enough foam to block most solar UV. toasted malts along the lines of baking bread dominate the aroma, while dry hop leafs hoist their modest flag of orange and woody scented pine cones. flavors seem more self-assured and assertive than the aroma-- though that’s like trying to talk over a librarian-- hardly loud. there’s just your standard lightly sweet woody-toasted malts covering for those same orange rind bitters already alluded to. soft carb, medium bodied; a pale of extraordinarily pleasant normal-ness.

Really clever name for this beer. Simple, not offensive, but all that goes with those qualities, too. More sessionable than the Nellie, which they say is their session beer. (on tap at brewpub)

Easy to like, hard to love, sort of the way I feel about pale ales in general. Pale amber, almost clear, small head, good lace. Sweet and nutty malts, some floral overtones, not the in your face use of PNW hops I have been getting all week here in Seattle. However, I actually love the piney, grapefruity, orange peel bitterness of the other beers here.

22oz bottle. Amber color, rocky head. Aroma of herbal pale malts, fresh earthy straw. Thin bodied. A touch of sweet malts, distant honey, then a kick of bitter hops. Heavy bitterness. Very lightly carbonated. More of an Amber Ale than an American Pale. Ooo, bitter.

Bottle. Malty aroma faint. Poured darker than the average pale with fruity and flowery flavour.. I didn’t note any nuttiness. Mild hoppy finish.

Bottle from Halls. Pours a reddish hue. Smells of light hops and buttery grains. Sweet flavor. Some grain. A little disflavored. Dry on the finish.
