3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice looking pale amber beer.small tight tan head with strong lacing.
on the pour: sweet malty and a floral hop to the nose.
On taste: Malty and hops (who’d thought!) starts sweet and buttery malt and drys out pretty nicely with some mild citrus and floral hops. This beer has a creamy texture to it.
Decent body and goes down nice.

A little bit of nuttiness and citrus in the aroma and some bitterness in the flavor but overall this brew was rather bland.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 01.09.14.
A: See through rust color. No head. Some opaqueness at top.
S: Sweet malt. Caramel. Picking up black olive too.
T: Caramel, burnt toast, black olive.
O: The black olive flavor prompted a drain pour. Almost every beer that I’ve had from Pike has ended the same way and they’re local to me. Maybe they have QC issues.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at the brewpub. Darker golden color, clear. Earthy musty hops on nose. British musty mold yeast character. Hops brighter on palate. I would prefer less mustiness and cleaner, brighter flavor.
