3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour under a lasting light tan head. The nose smells of biscuity cocoa, light tobacco notes and a hint of coffee. The flavor is a bit light but subtly roasty and a little sweet with some dark earthy chocolaty tones. Pretty nice but just a little too light. And I love how it smells almost exactly like the mustache wax from Men’s Face Stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is creamy and body is full. Roasted malt, assertive hop bitterness lingers throughout to the finish. Mostly dry middle and finish. Overall mostly bitter, but also highly malty full bodied porter. Very flavorful and we’ll done.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Total Wine McLean. Pours Black with a thin khaki head. leaves a lot of lacing. Not a lot going on on the nose. Has some roastiness and dryness on the tongue which makes it fairly balanced. finishes clean. Not blowing my socks off but quaffable nonetheless.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thin porter that lacks depth in every area! Pours dark w/ some reddish hues & has a decent tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is a light chocolate roast. The taste is also light. Very faint chocolate upfront & finishes somewhat roasty. Nothing memorable here!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Moderate cookie and toasted for the malt, light resin for the hops, light to moderate dough and earth for the yeast, with hints of raisin and faint tar, alcohol and spice. Head is small, frothy, light brown with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Nice and deep Porter with lots of dark flavors.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark and roasty with a thick tan head that remains thick from first quaff to the last.
Black chocolate and dark oily espresso. Touch of sweetness along the sides – burnt caramel, chewy dates and plums. Burnt oak and cherry wood. Black root and vanilla bean.
Soft silky mouthfeel with a nice dry bitter bite in the back. Layer after layer of flavors and textures. Burnt caramel crema and ash in the breath. Cinnamon graham crackers with a dark chocolate dusting on top. Tobacco oils and smoke in the back. Grape skins in the back. Parching and thirst-inducing. Burnt pine.
Love this porter from Pike Brewing Company. So many craft breweries skip right past the porter to brew a stout which is a shame because a really good porter is a truly beautiful quaff. The Post Alley Porter is truly beautiful and I encourage you to seek it out if it is distributed where you live.
