COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Post Alley Porter is named for Seattle’s historic brick paved alley. This thoroughfare used to see wagon loads of fish pushed up its steep incline from the waterfront to the Pike Place Market. Today it is a charming and old world style pedestrian thoroughfare and also the main entrance to our brewery.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a smallish light tan head. Nose is quite roasty. Taste is a little roasty as well with just a hint of a sweet finish on it. Very interesting.

Appearance: very dark brown with a thick, creamy medium tan head, and nice concentric rings of lace. Aroma: roasty nose, with nice dark chocolate and slightly burnt barley notes, with a hint of coffee and pine. Taste: as the aroma indicates, with a bit of underlying chocolate and vanilla sweetness. Finish: lingering roast, bittersweet dark chocolate and pine. Notes: Great porter. Smooth, slightly dry, roasty, bittersweet, and well-balanced. Very drinkable.

Bomber from Bottleworks for $4.49. For some reason, this beer isn’t making the rounds around town like the rest of their beers. But I finally got my hands on it. Pours black (actually very dark brown but looks black) with and a small khaki head. Aroma is beautifully melded and light with light, aggressive roast, cocoa, toffee, and a light milky touch. Flavor is similar, very clean and hits the right spots on the tongue and quickly fades. Then it leaves my palate. Just a bit mineral, no acidity. Again, this milky chocolate but actual beer and not adjunct. I give Pike a lot of crap but they sure do know how to put together a good stout and porter.

Bottle. Moderate cookie and toasted for the malt, light resin for the hops, light to moderate dough and earth for the yeast, with hints of raisin and faint tar, alcohol and spice. Head is small, frothy, light brown with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Nice and deep Porter with lots of dark flavors.

Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is creamy and body is full. Roasted malt, assertive hop bitterness lingers throughout to the finish. Mostly dry middle and finish. Overall mostly bitter, but also highly malty full bodied porter. Very flavorful and we’ll done.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at The Strath in Victoria. Pours a big brown frothy head atop a black body. Vanilla, soya sauce, creamy chocolate. Good bitterness on the tongue and gritty texture, rotten apples, coffee dusting and dried fruit. A good beer; thx for the recommendation Lon. --- reviewed on RateBeer.com

Contains what I’m looking for in this style. Moderate roastiness, lots of caramel, coffee, some chocolate. Not too viscous. Not one to blow the drinker away, but gosh darn I love a well made porter.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is rich and chocolaty with a strong burnt caramel and molasses quality. Fairly light on the hops. The flavor is pretty nice, certainly a robust Porter. Heavy chocolate and molasses sweetness with a nice dry roastiness on the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft gentle carbonation and a little lingering burnt caramel. Really nice robust porter.
