Pours out much darker than I expected. Smells a bit like coffee and vodka. Sweet and malty flavors with a bitter alcohol finish. Best with BBQ pulled pork.

Dark brown in colour, thin white coloured head, very light lacing. The aroma was of gingerbread, light alcohol, caramel, piney hops. The flavour is a bit hoppy, some caramel malt sweetness, raisins and alcohol. Lightly hoppy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes bitter, mildly sweet. A bit hoppy, very light roast but quite boring.

Draft at Pike, Seattle, WA. Tan head that was mostly lasting with very nice lacing, cloudy, no carbonation was observed, and a brown orange hue. Nose was smoke notes, some roastiness, sweet, malty, and fruity. Flavor was sweet, semi-rich, roasty, smokey, and raisins. ABV was noticeable, but tame. Mouthfeel was smooth. Medium body. Not big and bold for the style which was rather unusual. Worth a try.

Cloudy dark amber, moderate head, solid lacing and retention. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, blond ale type hops (central European). Medium bodied, moderately sweet. Original take on the style.

[890-20071201] 650mL (Xmas Party 2007, beerhugger & guests). Sweet bitter grass malt aroma. Hazy, dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting off-white head. Boozy raisins and a bit of woody malt in the flavour. Medium-full body. Nothing special. (6/3/6/3/12) 3.0

[1098B-20080216] Tap @ Pike brewpub (Seattle, WA). Sweet yeasty fruit aroma. Clear, dark dark brown red body with a medium-lasting off-white head. Watery alcohol malt flavour has a bit of smokily toasted molasses. Full body. Average, not coherent. (5/3/6/3/12) 2.9

Bottle wife got me for Christmas. Some smoke, some roast, Sweet fruits for aroma complexing. Dark brown brew held to light a deep red. Decent head with halo retention. Flavor is as odd as the aroma. A sweet fruit plum, raisin is there, a roasty flavor as well. This for me is one of those complex brews to write about but it was good.
