michael-pollack (2601), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2009 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of light piney hops, brown sugar, burnt caramel, and some burnt malts. Poured brown in color with a small, dense, light brown head that diminished but lasted as a film on top of the beer. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small particles throughout. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of light coriander, light hops, slight molasses, slight brown sugar, light malts, and a hint of tobacco. Medium body. Creamy, then dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Slight coriander, malt, brown sugar, and light tobacco finish is dry. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Dark brown-amber, thin beige head. Aroma is sweet citrus and pine and smell a bit thin. Not as thin as expected, but somewhat soda-like. Med body, high carbonation. Pretty sweet but does have some hop bite. Too many flavors that don’t combine well in this case. Sticky finish. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Aug 2, 2009 Bomber from Barrios’ Massechussetts Trip Tasting. Pours a clearish red with ring of light tan head. Nose is sweet caramel, with hints of alcohol. Flavor is brown sugar, and a spiciness, like that from cherry cough syrup. Smallest hint of anise on the tail. Pretty enjoyable. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours a dark amber with tan head. Aroma is earthyness, malt, molasses. Similar taste. Very light and crisp. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours a beige head with legs and a brown head. Smells floral and brown sugar. Same flavor. Smooth body. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of wildflowers, grassy, earthy. Tastes sweet and sticky with some resiny splashes and a bitter finish. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jul 31, 2009 Bottle: Chestnut brown pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Nose is somewhat lagerish into a grassey floral thing... A bit vegetal. Tastes lightly floral with a deep maltinesss and some nuts. Even a bit of cloves. Rather dry and lingering in floral bitters and spices. Different, I just couldn’t get into this at all. djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a clear dark amber with a creamy off white head that leaves behind good sticky lacing. The aroma is a fruity malt with raisin and orange. Thin mouthfeel with a rich malt taste with cinnamon and clove. Alcohol present but not too overpowering. A good American stromg ale from Pike.
