LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA May 18, 2009 Appearance: Coco-Cola brown with a topping of sparkly bubbles.
Aroma: Clove, bubble gum and spice. Lots of Belgian yeast.
Taste: Spice and cloves, hops and dark fruit.
Mouthfeel: Thinner than you would think.
Overall: A tasty, intriguing hoppy version of a classic dubbel. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 7, 2009 Tap@Brewpub. Strong aroma of lime, orange and some spices. Brown colour, beige head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, spices, malty, hint of orange. Sticky mouth feel. Flavourful, too much spices for me. Beerme (20), Seattle, Washington, USA May 4, 2009 Bottle poured pitch black with a mocha head. Malty at first and then flavor dissapeared quickly and completely. I heard they are using Belgian yeasts but couldn’t taste it. I was left unsatisfied which is unusual for Pike beers. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 7, 2009 On tap at Pike in Seattle. Color was a dark and deep reddish brown. Aroma was a bit lighter than I expected; some cocoa, nuts, and sugar. Flavor was more sweet; fruity, yeasty, with some brown malt elements. Not much hopping here. Solid beer. jimmay (179), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2009 650 ml bottle. Pours deep brown in colour, with modest head. Intense aroma, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Flavour also intense, cholcate and malt, with a hint of cherry. Lightly carbonated. Really good! snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 25, 2009 On tap at Pike. Pours hazy dark brown with a thin off-white head. Spicy sweet Belgian aroma of candi sugar and yeast, with some hops thrown in as well. Flavor is hoppier and has notes of molasses, chocolate, and banana. Full bodied with a bitter finish. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 14, 2009 Dirty brown pour with little head. Nose of bready malts, caramel and spices. Flavor is the same with some spices as well. A bit sweet, but not bad. BeerNeedy (60), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Mar 6, 2009 22 oz bottle, sweet aroma reminiscent of over ripe fruit, pours a very hazy brown with a marginal white head, flavor of coffee and caramel in a mellow combination, very smooth on the palate with good drinkability. Not bad at all.
