Straight-up brown ale taste, not too exciting. Light malts and mild alcohol. Just ok. apshah99 (138), Portland, Oregon, USA

Deep amber colour, translucent, pronounced malt and some spicy hop aroma. Smooth first sip, as someone else mentioned more of a brown ale than dubbel, but nonetheless pretty good. Strength of the alcohol doesn’t overpower, adds to the depth of the brew. nuplastikk (1178), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2008 22oz bomber. Deep choco-brown color. A little thin-bodied. I initially mistook this to be a Belgian Dubbel. Certainly shares some characteristics but really comes off to be me like a big Brown Ale. Deep malt and yeast flavors. Might demand a re-rate, but I’m not really feeling it. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy SoLan. Cloudy murky chocolate brown pour. Big caramel malt toffee aroma with hints of some hops. Thin watery malt body. Tatse was a bit of a letdown after the aroma. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Toffee, malt and a little bit of hops are present in the aroma. This beer pours brown with a red hue. Rich in nutty malt flavor but has a good balance leaving it smooth for the style. ebowman (11), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 10, 2008 Pours an opaque dark reddish-brown color with a generous head. Very hazy in appearance. Aroma is slightly sour, but predominantly toffee, caramel, and nuts with a hint of lemon. The flavor is surprisingly hoppy and finishes with a charred toffee/chocolate taste. This beer is ok, but is perhaps a little too hoppy for the style, and the charred taste needs to be toned down a bit. Lubiere (4491), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
