Not what I expected froma strong ale. Bit more like a Dark Ale. Nice hosp to it. Very smooth tasting, nicely carbonated. Thx to Piscator for sharing.

Draft at Pike Brewing on 7/12/07. This was a deep murky brown with a smallish tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, molasses, leather. Medium body, light carbonation, and very smooth without stickiness, going down a little too easily maybe. Burnt caramel and a dry peppery, but not overly bitter, finish mesh well with the other qualities.

Draft. Dark reddish brown beer with a nice beige head. Malty aroma. Malty/roaty flavors with a slight smokiness and just enough hops. Very good.

Draught sample. Mild fruity sweet aroma with bitter tang. Well-rounded aroma. Deep brown amber clear with light tan lacing head. Heavy body with medium carbonation. Big sweet taste with roasted malt, raisin and a nutty sweet bitterness. Mild soy tang with thick raisin finish. Mild oak and vanilla. Little taste of alcohol. Sweet dry after. Nice ale.

650ml brown bottle. Chestnut brown colour with red highlights. Head foamed up quite nicely, but settled down to a thin white cap, leaving some sparse lace on the glass. Malty aroma, toffeeish. Flavour is also dominated by malts, caramelly, medium sweetness, slightly chocolately. Finishes dryly with some light citrusy bitterness and a slight woody, nutty aftertaste. Medium body.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Clear reddish brown with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit and burned caramel. Quite full-bodied with sweetish burned caramel and again notes of overripe fruit. Spicy bitterness in the finish. 291208
