COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Medium hopped with malt and wheat character, a smooth fruity balance and soft creamy head. Mild fruity esters and a soft wheat flavor are the major characteristics of this beer. It is light and crisp with just enough hops to balance and round out the sweetness of the malt and wheat.

Wow an American Wheat I like. Refreshing without being watery or boring. There is a fruity flavor and I just might taste just a hint of spice.

On tap at Pike Place in Seattle, WA--Poured a hazy rugged light golden body. Soft fruity esters with a touch of bittering hops and nutty yeast. Not too bad.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy light copper amber with a fairly apathetic little off-white head. Big sour wheat nose with plenty of banana yeast esters and clove notes as well. Homebrew tried it and pointed out that too many american brewers refuse to believe that hefeweizen yeasts can work well at 62-64F, so they leave them out at 74-76 and they go bonkers, leaving behind way too many esters in the process. Interesting point. The body’s creamy and medium, plenty more of the banana and clove plus sour yeast on the mid-palate. It’s a clean enough little beer but they probably need to rethink the philosophy behind their fermentation.

(Draft: Pike Pub & Brewery in Seattle, WA) Sweet, spicy nose, with kind of odd maltiness. Hmm, one of the stranger wheat beers I’ve tried, it’s taken me a few minutes to place the aroma, but it’s just like opening a fresh bag of wheat bread. The wheat malt seems a bit toasty, like it’s been freshly harvested, and sweet, like it’s been slightly caramelized. Very light bitterness comes out in the finish. Light bodied, with enough wheat malt so that it’s not watery. Pale golden in color, and fairly hazy, it’s topped by a small white head that settles to a ring. Some patchy lacing at the top of the glass. Very different, but once over the shock, I like it.

2010-07-05. Crisp dark yellow with a small white head. 3+ Mild aroma is lightly estery, touch of wheat. Flavour is thinner than hoped, fruity esters, tart grainy wheat in the finish lingers in the aftertaste. Average palate. bit dull but okay. On tap at Pike Place brewpub, Seattle

[1093-20080216] Tap @ Pike brewpub (Seattle, WA). Yeasty bread aroma with a hint of sweet spice. Clear, orange light red body with a quick foamy white head. More yeasty bread in the flavour with a bit of sweet alcohol. Light medium body. Nice, uneventful.

Though listed as a german wheat, this beer has a nice refreshing American wheat and flavor with a a sour apple finish.
