Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, espresso, and a touch of vanilla. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head. The flavor starts with dark chocolate and just a touch of fruit. The finish has moderate black coffee, burnt notes, and light pine. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 8, 2006
Bottle courtesy of Tpaliga: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium brown foamy head with low retention but good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt is pretty dominant with some light coffee notes also noticeable. Taste is quite dry with limited chocolate and coffee note and a medium bitter finish. This is like an imperial take on a dry stout, which is probably not something that I’ve really been looking for. Interesting but still way too dry for my taste buds.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerlando (3276) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 29, 2008
Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours quite dark, and chocolate mahogany brown in color. A foamy, khaki colored head settles to a thin layer, leaving sudsy lacing in its wake. The nose gives off notes of baker’s chocolate, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee beans. Flavors continue this trend, feeling sort of one-dimensional with all the roasted character. I’d like to see some more sweet chocolate and dark fruity notes come through, but instead only bitter baker’s chocolate and coffee are detectable. Medium-full bodied and smooth, with lingering, bitter roast. Overall, this isn’t bad, but isn’t great either.

4.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 unclemattie (3243) - Georgia, USA - AUG 2, 2010
22oz bottle, BLACK label. Oh My Lord. This beer couldn’t pour any darker! Black color, light brown head. Looks like the darkest bar of chocolate ever made. Long lasting head, nice lacing. Aroma of roasted barley with a touch of licorice. Mostly roast, some BBQ, distant molasses. The head won’t go away. Flavor is smooth, creamy, malt. Loads of roasted barley, some cacao nib, smoke, and a touch of coffee bean. Finishes with a roasted bitterness and a nice hop pine character, and also a light licorice. This is one of the BEST STOUTS I’ve ever had.
