COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Pour is a dark, dark brown with nice dark tan head. This one is full of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Slightly roasty with hints of fruit and hops. It has the silky mouthfeel of an oatmeal stout. Tasty.

bomber from SamuraiArtist. viscous black colored pour with reddish edges and a thin woody brown head. the aroma is a mix of milk chocolate and dry ashy roasted malts. flavor is robust...dark ashy malt, lots of chocolate, wood and some lacto sweetness that is kept in check with a dry bitter finish and lingering coffee notes. full bodied creamy texture is cut nicely with more bitterness. smooth and dangerously easy drinking

Compliments of ericandersnavy. Sadly I am totally in agreement with jthg who rated this right before me. I wanted so much to like this beer but found myself having problems with it the second I smelled it. Pours is nice, viscous dark black. Only allows a little light. Head is two fingers creamy mocha. Nose shows some molasses, chocolate, mild coffee, very rich, and then I start to pick up the precursors of the astringency I was to taste. Flavor is rich and roasty upfront but very quickly turns to an overpowering bitter/astringent character. Not sure if it was hops or grain but it was very undesirable. Coffee comes through, thought I may have picked up some acetaledehyde. The body is very full and velvety but very quickly turns to bitterness. Very lasting astringent bitterness. Ended up not being able to finish this one.

Bottle shared with the guys courtesy of ScottyP from his trip to Austin. Near black pour with decent, fading dark tan head. Roasty, smokey, chocolate. Some coffee in the finish. A little thin on the palate. Cool label.

2004 black with a tall tan head. Lots of roasty mocha aroma. Taste starts with a sweet chocolate character, finishing with a big coffee finish, very rich and roasty with a nice even bitterness. This is a very smooth stout with a good thickness to it.

On tap at Pike in Seattle. Poured a dark brown to black in color. Lacing with a light brown head. Aroma of smoke, coffee and oats. Flavor is much of the same with a bit more cocoa and coffee. Solid stuff overall.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark black pour with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is rich and roasty with some hints of chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee. Flavor is rich and roasty at the start with a nice coffee and chocolate balance. Finishes with a nice light bitterness from the roasted malts. Just thick enough to make it very drinkable and with the right amount of bitterness. Excellent.
